Review Centre: Brass Bands

"I wanted a swing/jazz band for my wedding, and oh boy, did they deliver! They were swinging, and lively; their repertoire was quite expansive. They reached out to ask if I had any specific songs and then added additional pieces that suited the style I wanted. We contracted them for both the ceremony and the reception, we had a 3 piece band for the ceremony (piano, bass, and sax) They showed up early and set up with no extra help needed, played some gentle jazz music until the ceremony began, and even added in a drummer for no extra charge. I flip-flopped on the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to until almost the very last moment, and they were incredibly understanding and flexible. For the ceremony, we requested a 7 piece band so it could be boisterous and fun. There was almost no time that the dance floor was empty from the moment they began playing, even though the music they played was a sort of old-school jazz that few people know how to properly dance to. They played so well and brought such an element of joy and fun, that all our guests felt comfortable enough to dance all night. We learned how to swing dance for our first dance (Louis Armstrong, 'Bout Time), and the band played it to perfection (even if we didn't dance it perfectly LOL). This moment is one I will treasure forever, it was exactly as I had wanted it to be. For the rest of the night, they played off a setlist of a few songs I gave them and filled in the rest with their own recommendations. The singer has the most beautiful voice, all the band members play perfectly, I felt like I was in a 1920s jazz bar which was exactly what I had wanted. We had guests approach us all throughout the night, and even now to ask who the band was and to congratulate us on such a fun event. If you want a band that can swing, rock, and any other musical verb you like, this is the band you want. They were so communicative, helpful, and perfectly able to understand my vision. "Thank you so much for setting the mood so perfectly for our wedding day and the reception after the ceremony. It was everything we hoped for. The band started playing just as we left the altar and it immediatly set the mood to a fun and relaxed but super classy afternoon. The guys followed us discretely and got people (including us) dancing during reception, so even before the offical dancing started :). They read the crowd so well and were the perfect choice for our garden wedding! You were so kind and super professional at all times and we could not have asked for more. We would definetly have you again! Thank you for being part of our special day!"

"We saw this band by chance when on holiday in Saint Jean de Luz: brilliant! Lots of Blues Brothers and classic soul for us oldies, smattered with newer numbers that the kids knew, but the combination worked for everybody. There was a group dancing rock and roll who appeared to have come just to boogie. The singers are young and dynamic, great energy and harmonies, and four horns for the full soul band effect. They kept if up for more than two hours, with the singers coming down into the crowd at the end to get people singing along and dancing. Fabulous evening and a great discovery."

"We loved our experience with the Original Moonlighters. They offered a range of genres/time periods and accommodated our setlist requests. A highlight was the female vocalist crushing Proud Mary and forming a line of ladies! They had the guests clamoring for more after the encore! Highly recommend."

"We booked Antonio Giorgi and his traditional dixieland jazz band Roaring Emily Jazz Band for our mother's 80th birthday as a surprise treat. Having agreed in advance with Antonio Giorgi that the band would play themselves down the street to my mum's front door it was a joy to see the absolute surprise and delight on her face when they arrived and played through the house onto the back terrace. From the outset the musicians were absolute gentlemen, very polished and professional, very polite and accommodating to requests, in fact the mood they brought to the proceedings was so infectious that we were all dancing and singing along to some of the numbers without being able to help ourselves. They played one set for my mother personally at her house then again later at a surprise party we had organised at a nearby hotel Everyone agreed that they really made the event special and injected such a tone of happiness into the proceedings that was exactly what we had hoped for and more. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and they surpassed our expectations even managing to convert a few teenagers to jazz along the way. A big thank you to Antonio Giorgi and the boys for making the day go so well"
