Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Many theater and festival type gigs performed. Beacon Park Festival in Sydney, BC is a yearly highlight gig. Up to 20,000 people in attendance.

What's your favourite type of event?

Prefer performing at venues with a dance floor, but festivals are always a blast for great atmosphere.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Started out with a local high school band, expanded outward, acquired a Hollywood recording contract, and toured mainly in the Pacific Northwest. Later across Canada, also did gigs in Europe, and mainly the Canary Islands.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Currently my set list features Canadian artists. Pop, rock, folk, country. I also write and include my own funny parodies in my shows. Paul McCartney comes the closet to whom I emulate with my style of playing and singing. Hey Jude is a favorite and certainly one of the greatest pop songs of all time.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Performance times vary from daytime gigs to evening gigs, and virtually anything can be accomodated with advance warning and preparation. 2 hour prep for set-up is preferred. 2 or 3 X 45 minute sets, Or: 2 X 1 hour sets, or shows, suit my audiences.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Outside performances are welcome. I would ask for shade, a flat level surface and with power supply close to staging area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Currently I am focusing on a Canadian artist repertoire but can accomodate requests in advance.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

High energy, entertaining, engaging, funny, danceable shows.

Who do I emulate or model myself after performance wise?

I have been influenced by many musical styles and artists from Eric Clapton to Gordon lightfoot, and can play virtually any style of music requested.

Where is the popular direction of music going, for a Canadian artist in particular?

Showcasing the songs and talents of Canadian singer/songwriters, especially because of the current political climate. Clients are amazed at thow many well-known popular songs emulate from Canada. Especially mixed in with my Canadian originals.

How would I describe my set list?

My setlist includes songs of varying styles and tempos. Adaptable dynamics would be the key elements, depending on the venue and audience. A cabaret audience compared to a pub audience would require adaptable variety, and that certainly is part of my vast experience entertaining people over many years in the performing arts.
