Glow dancers and LED dance shows are the choreographed end: a troupe in pixel-mapped suits performing a set routine, usually five to fifteen minutes, with colours programmed to a brand or a theme. Flow artists spin LED hoops, poi, staffs and fans in the same patterns they use with fire, and belly dancers add illuminated Isis wings and veils to a conventional set. Roaming light-up characters and stilt walkers cover drinks receptions and festival crowds without a stage. Darkness is the requirement. Evening receptions, gala dinners, product launches, club nights and outdoor festivals after dusk are the natural homes; a daytime garden party or a brightly lit conference hall wastes the effect.
