Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We require a clear, level performance area with a safe distance between the performer, audience and any flammable materials. The exact space required depends on the selected act and props. Fire shows require suitable ventilation, venue permission and an agreed fire-safety area.

What information do you require about a venue?

Please provide the venue address, performance-area dimensions, ceiling height, floor or ground surface, and whether the space is indoors or outdoors. For fire performances, we need to know the venue’s fire restrictions, alarm and sprinkler arrangements, nearby flammable materials and whether open flames have been approved. Please also advise us about parking, loading access, stairs, changing facilities and any sound restrictions.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We provide our own fire, LED and specialist performance props. The client or venue should provide a suitable sound system for larger events. A portable speaker may be available for smaller performances by prior arrangement. Additional stage lighting and professional sound equipment are not included unless specifically requested and quoted for.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. Curated Spotify playlists can be provided before and between sets using the venue’s sound system. Please share your preferred atmosphere or music style in advance. A professional DJ/acoustic soundscape service can also be arranged at an additional cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

My biggest gig was the Nelson Mandela Benefit Concert for Victoria Falls Carnival - flown in from Cape Town. However my favourite venue was a small theatre in Cape Town that simply gave me the budget and asked me to impress them - no other instructions. I kept this gig for 2 years even though they initially only booked me once - I performed to keep myself entertained and they were mesmerised each gig with new props and costumes. The theatre in that time won an award for the best tourism entertainment.

What's your favourite type of event?

I especially love events that value atmosphere, creativity and a touch of the unexpected - beautiful weddings, festivals, retreats, private celebrations and immersive events where fire and movement can become part of the experience.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I began performing with fire and flow arts more than 15 years ago, inspired by the combination of movement, skill and spectacle. What started as a personal practice grew naturally into professional performances at festivals, weddings, corporate functions, private celebrations and international productions. Since then, I have performed solo, collaborated with musicians and other artists, and created and managed larger performance teams. Today, I perform as the Queen of Tiny Flames and lead GoFlowYourself, offering fire and LED shows, immersive experiences and flow-arts workshops.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My work is influenced by South Africa’s contemporary dance and physical-theatre scene, particularly artists such as Gregory Maqoma, Robyn Orlin, Mamela Nyamza and Jay Pather. I’m drawn to performers who combine strong physical technique with storytelling, character and a sense of ritual.

Internationally, Pina Bausch is a favourite influence because of the way she turned movement into something theatrical, emotionally honest and visually unforgettable.

Choosing the greatest song of all time is nearly impossible, but Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” is hard to beat - it has drama, power, sensuality and a magnificent sense of arrival.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically arrive 45–60 minutes before the performance to inspect and prepare the space, arrange the fire-safety area, test the music and set up our props. Most featured shows run for approximately 10–15 minutes. Roaming or ambient bookings can include several shorter sets spread throughout the event. Pack-down usually takes around 20–30 minutes.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely - outdoor events are ideal for our larger fire props and full-scale performances. Fire shows remain subject to suitable weather, wind conditions, venue approval and a safe performance area. If conditions are unsuitable, we can discuss an LED or tiny-flame alternative.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes, clients are welcome to help shape the music and atmosphere. We have a carefully selected repertoire that works beautifully with our performances, but we can incorporate a preferred song, genre or event theme when arranged in advance. Custom choreography or specially edited music may carry an additional fee.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients most often describe our performances as mesmerising, elegant, powerful and unforgettable. They particularly love the combination of theatrical presence, skilled movement and the raw beauty of fire, as well as the professionalism and attention to safety behind every show.
