About / Biography

I’m Christopher Horn, a celebrant who believes every ceremony should feel like you.

Whether you’re planning a wedding, vow renewal, naming ceremony, or memorial, my role is to help you mark the moment with warmth, sincerity, and meaning.

I create ceremonies for all couples and families, with particular experience in:
• LGBTQ+ weddings and partnerships
• Interfaith and intercultural unions
• Spiritual, secular, and faith-based celebrations (drawing on my background as an ex-pastor)

Each ceremony is written entirely from scratch after a personal consultation. On the day itself, you can expect a calm and grounded presence so you and your loved ones can simply be present and enjoy the moment.

Pre-Marriage Coaching
Alongside my ceremony work, I offer pre-marriage coaching sessions because even the strongest couples can find wedding planning stressful. These sessions offer a supportive, neutral space to explore communication, values, and the shared vision for your big day and future together.

Pricing
• Ceremonies start at €500
• Pre-Marriage Coaching starts at €50 per session

Contact me with your needs and ideas, and together we’ll create a custom quote that fits your occasion perfectly.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I don’t require a stage or sound system, but I do need a quiet, sheltered space for the ceremony, especially for outdoor events. A small table or lectern is appreciated for holding the script, and seating arranged so all guests can see and hear clearly is ideal. If using a microphone, I’m happy to use the couple’s or venue’s system when provided.

What information do you require about a venue?

Please share the full venue address, directions or access instructions (especially for rural or multi-entrance locations), and the contact details of the event coordinator. For outdoor ceremonies, let me know if a backup weather plan is in place. If there are sound restrictions or access limitations (like stairs or no parking), that’s helpful to know in advance.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

No, I don’t bring sound or lighting equipment — but I’m happy to work with the venue’s setup or use a handheld microphone if needed. For intimate settings, my voice carries well without amplification. I do recommend checking with your venue if a mic will be required for your guest count and space.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

NA

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I have officiated weddings of every size, from quiet and intimate elopements to celebrations with more than 250 guests. Some of the most breathtaking settings have been in the mountains around Cape Town, South Africa. There is something extraordinary about standing with a couple, surrounded by nature, holding space for their vows beneath wide open skies.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love officiating all kinds of ceremonies. Each one marks a meaningful stage of life, whether it is a wedding, a naming or a memorial. These moments matter, and it is a privilege to help shape them with care and intention.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I began as a full-time officiant within the church, but over time I was drawn to offer ceremonies in a more personal and private capacity. While traditional contexts still hold value, they can also feel limiting, and I wanted to create space that honours people’s stories more freely, especially for those who do not fit conventional moulds.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

NA

What experience do you have with officiating weddings?

I've been officiating weddings since 2012, originally as a pastor, and later as an independent celebrant. I've conducted ceremonies in churches, outdoors, private homes, and even across languages and cultures. Each wedding is unique, and I craft every ceremony from scratch with the couple’s input.

Can you help us create a personalised ceremony?

Yes, absolutely. I work closely with each couple to create a ceremony that reflects who they are. Whether you're spiritual, non-religious, or somewhere in between, I'll help shape something authentic and meaningful. I also provide guidance for writing vows, choosing readings, and involving friends or family.

Do you perform ceremonies in more than one language?

I officiate in English, but I can prepare printed transcripts in other languages so your guests feel included. In the past, I’ve provided German and Romanian versions for international weddings, and I’m happy to do this again with enough notice.

What kind of couples do you work with?

I welcome all couples, whether straight, queer, intercultural, interfaith or non-religious. Love deserves to be celebrated in all its forms. My role is to support you in creating a ceremony that feels honest, inclusive and right for you

Do you only do weddings?

In addition to weddings, I also lead vow renewals, commitment ceremonies, baby namings, coming out blessings, memorials and other meaningful life events. I am especially passionate about creating ceremonies that honour identity, grief, love and major transitions, whether joyful or difficult. If it matters to you, we can shape a moment around it.

Will you travel for our ceremony?

Yes. I’m based in Germany but happy to travel within Europe and beyond, depending on availability and logistics. I’ve officiated ceremonies in South Africa, Germany, and other locations. Travel costs are always discussed clearly in advance, and I’ll work with you to keep things fair and transparent.

What do you enjoy about officiating weddings?

I value being part of a moment that truly matters. For me, it is about helping people feel seen and celebrated just as they are. I love crafting words that reflect a couple’s unique story, and creating a space where love, honesty and joy can be felt as well as heard. It is a privilege to witness that kind of connection.

Can you include religious or spiritual elements in the ceremony?

Yes, if that is meaningful to you. I have a background in theology and more than a decade of experience as a pastor, but I now work in a more inclusive and open way. I am comfortable including prayer, scripture or spiritual reflection if you would like, or keeping things completely non-religious. The ceremony will always reflect your beliefs, not mine.

We’re not sure where to start. Can you guide us through the process?

Yes. Whether you have a clear vision or no idea where to begin, I’ll walk you through every step. From structure and wording to practical tips and timing, I’ll help you feel confident and prepared. You don’t need to have it all figured out before we meet.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I usually arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. If couples prefer a rehearsal or a pre-walkthrough, I am happy to accommodate, and I always follow their lead on how they want the day to unfold.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I am happy to officiate outdoor ceremonies. Whether it is a mountain view, a garden or a beachfront setting, I adapt easily. I do, however, recommend having a backup plan in case of poor weather.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Absolutely. Each ceremony is created in collaboration with the couple. Together we shape the flow, choose readings or rituals, and personalise the script so that it reflects their values and style. No two ceremonies are ever the same.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients often describe my style as calm, warm, inviting and light. I hold space with sincerity but without stiffness, creating ceremonies that feel both meaningful and grounded.
