The Collaboration Band is an extraordinary gathering of veteran musicians dedicated to the authentic playing of Motown, R&B, Disco, Funk, Soul, and High Energy Dance music. Each member brings years of experience and dedication to this music - each member is a master of their craft. Ms Verceal Whitaker, former lead vocalist with the Platters, soars above a band where everybody sings, but her vocals are simply in a different category. Willie Miller lends the big pocket of his drumming plus lead and background vocals; On guitar and vocals (and excellent on both), we have Jay King Lamar. Joshua Townsend adds his tasty keyboards and superb vocals; Alonzo Smith aka ( Zo) provides vocals and the funky bottom. We've played on the biggest and smallest stages, for thousands and for handfuls. We know what works, what doesn't, and how to get the party started and keep it going. This is music meant to be heard and felt , and when Collaboration plays it, oh you're gonna feel it, guaranteed. Our needs for performances.
1. Three to Four separate 120-amp circuits.
2. Preferably a 12 x 12 performance space or stage.
3. 5 parking spaces.
4. 2 to 3 separate dressing rooms or changing areas.
1. We would need any specific directions to venue.
2. Specific load in directions.
3. Any sound ordinances.
4. Dress code attire.
5. Are the band members allowed to have a guest if there is a cover charge.
We can bring a full PA for smaller events and venues only if necessary. Larger events we require a full, sound, lighting, and backline if possible.
Yes we can play break music between our sets if necessary.
The best gig we have ever done is the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Center in Ft Myers FL.
We love playing all types of events. From Weddings, to Concerts, Private Parties, Corporate Events, Night Clubs and more.
All the members of our band have toured with different acts and we all have played in various bands. We are all full-time musicians, and this is our jobs now.
We have been influenced by everyone from Whitney Houston to Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Temptations, Jackson Five, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra and more. We love catering our shows to our client's desire. But our band specializes in 60's to 70's Motown and R&B. But we do have the ability to cover anything from Disco to Classic Rock and all the way up to some of today's Pop artist.
We normally arrive 2 hours before showtime to setup, soundcheck, and be ready to hit the stage at our given start time. We normally do a 90-minute set on a 3-hour show, a 20-minute break and a 70 min encore. But this is in reference to a 3 hour show.
As long as the weather conditions are conducive. We have no problem with performing outside.
If the client needs specific songs. We have no problem with learning 5 to 6 songs for their event. But our show is a set show.
