The Entertainers Groove Gang is more than a band — we are a collective of seasoned musicians dedicated to bringing soulful, high-energy, and versatile live music experiences to every stage. With a lineup of lead guitar, bass, saxophone, drums, keyboards, and powerhouse vocals, our sound is both deeply rooted in tradition and boldly modern in execution.
We specialize in an expansive range of genres including funk, jazz, Afro soul, Afro pop, neo-soul, Afro jazz, and pop, creating performances that move effortlessly between nostalgic classics of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s and fresh contemporary grooves. Each show is carefully crafted to engage audiences, blending improvisation, tight arrangements, and irresistible rhythms.
Our mission is simple: to entertain, uplift, and connect. Whether performing at festivals, corporate events, community concerts, weddings, or intimate lounges, the Entertainers Groove Gang delivers not just music, but a complete cultural and musical experience celebrating groove, soul, and togetherness.

Yes, we bring our own sound.
Yes — Entertainers Groove Gang can provide curated Spotify or DJ-style background music before, between, and after our sets.
We bring our own playlists and playback setup (laptop or phone with aux/USB connection), suitable for maintaining a smooth atmosphere throughout the event. The venue should provide access to the main sound system or mixer input.
Our Best Gig:
One of our most unforgettable performances was at the Selective Live Headline Show in Cape Town. The energy was electric from the moment we hit the stage — the crowd connected deeply with our blend of smooth jazz, soul, and Afro-funk. Every solo, every groove, every note landed just right. It was one of those nights where the music played through us, not just from us.
Best Venue:
The Artscape Theatre in Cape Town stands out as our best venue so far. The acoustics, professionalism, and overall atmosphere elevated our sound to another level. Performing there reminded us why we love live music — the stage felt alive, and the audience gave that energy right back.
Our favorite type of event is one that brings people together through rhythm, soul, and live energy — whether it’s a jazz festival, a classy corporate evening, or an outdoor community concert. We love spaces where the audience can feel the groove, connect with the music, and be part of the moment with us.
Entertainers Groove Gang began as a group of passionate musicians who simply loved playing — jamming together after rehearsals, mixing smooth jazz with African rhythm, soul, R&B, and a touch of funk. What started as casual sessions quickly turned into something powerful: a sound people connected with.
Our first gigs were at community events and open mics, where we built our chemistry and stage presence. From there, we started performing at local festivals, live venues, and special events across Cape Town. Each performance helped us shape our unique groove — authentic, energetic, and deeply rooted in the joy of live music.
Since then, we’ve played at some of the Western Cape’s standout stages, including:
Artscape Theatre (Cape Town)
Mayibuye Festival
Selective Live Headline Show
Casa Bar (Woodstock)
LAGMA Awards (Strand)
Uyilo Arts Academy Event
D&H Casting Agency (Hout Bay)
As a band, Entertainers Groove Gang draws inspiration from artists who bring soul, rhythm, and storytelling to life. Our sound is shaped by the energy of Fela Kuti, the smoothness of George Benson, the groove of Hugh Masekela, and the timeless honesty of Bill Withers. We’re also inspired by the creative freedom of John Coltrane and the modern vibe of Erykah Badu, Robert Glasper, and The Soul Rebels — musicians who blur genres and play from the heart.
Our favourite artist as a collective would be John Coltrane — his music wasn’t just about notes; it was about truth, spirit, and connection. That’s exactly what we aim for in every performance — to make the audience feel something real.
When it comes to the greatest song of all time, we’d go with “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers. It’s simple, heartfelt, and everlasting — a reminder that great music isn’t about perfection, it’s about emotion. That’s the same principle we live by as a band.
