For standard event coverage, I need enough space to set up my equipment without interfering with guests—typically a small corner or table near the action works perfectly. I require access to 1 standard power outlet for charging batteries and running my laptop for on-site backups. For larger events with multi-camera setups, I'd need 2 outlets and approximately 3x3 meters of floor space for gear storage. On-street parking or a loading bay within 50 meters of the venue entrance is essential—I travel with multiple camera bags, lighting stands, and audio gear that's heavy to carry long distances. If you're booking me for a half-day or full-day event, I'll need a 15-minute break every 3 hours to swap batteries, back up footage, and stay fresh creatively
Please share the full venue address with a specific entrance point—some venues have loading areas around the back that aren't obvious from the main road. Let me know if there's a specific event coordinator I should check in with upon arrival, and provide their phone number in case I get lost or delayed. It's incredibly helpful to know the event schedule in advance: when speeches are happening, key moments like cake-cutting or first dances, and any 'must-capture' VIP arrivals. Also tell me if the venue has any restrictions—some historic buildings ban flash photography or tripods on certain floors. If the event is outdoors, I'll want to know the backup plan for rain or extreme weather. Finally, let me know who my main point of contact will be on the day so I can coordinate without interrupting the flow of your event
I bring a fully self-contained kit to every shoot. For photography, I carry professional DSLR and mirrorless cameras, a full range of prime and zoom lenses, on-camera flash units, and off-camera lighting with stands and modifiers for formal portraits or dark venues. For videography, I bring cinema-grade cameras, shotgun and lapel microphones for clear audio capture, lightweight LED panel lights for interviews or speeches, and a gimbal stabiliser for smooth moving shots. I also carry spare batteries, memory cards, and backup cameras so there's no risk of equipment failure ruining your event coverage. If you need something specific—like a teleprompter, additional wireless mics, or drone coverage—just ask and I can arrange it with advance notice. For sound, I don't provide PA systems or DJ equipment—my focus is capturing audio for your video, not amplifying the event itself

One of my absolute favourite events to cover was a multi-day corporate retreat held at a stunning converted barn in the Cotswolds. The organisers had transformed the space with fairy lights, rustic wooden tables, and an outdoor fire pit—it was a visual dream. What made it special wasn't just the beautiful setting, but the genuine connection between the team members. I captured everything from team-building exercises in the morning to heartfelt speeches around the fire at night, and the final photo gallery told a complete story of their time together. The client later told me the images helped them secure funding for their next project—that's the kind of impact I love making. As for the best venue, I'd have to say a historic castle in Scotland where I shot a wedding last summer. The couple exchanged vows in a candlelit chapel with stained glass windows, and the reception was held in a grand hall with chandeliers and tartan decor. But the real magic happened at golden hour—we snuck out
I genuinely love variety in my work, but if I had to choose, weddings are my absolute favourite to shoot. There's something incredibly special about documenting two people committing their lives to each other in front of their closest friends and family. The emotions are raw and unfiltered—nervous laughter during the ceremony, teary-eyed speeches, pure joy on the dance floor—and I get to preserve all of it forever. Every wedding has its own unique personality, from intimate elopements with just 20 guests to grand celebrations with 200 people. I also have a soft spot for corporate events and conferences—there's a different kind of energy when you're capturing professionals at their best, whether it's a keynote speech, a product launch, or a networking session. Live music events and festivals are another favourite because the energy is electric and the lighting is always dramatic. Ultimately, I love any event where people are having a genuinely good time—that's when the best candid momen
I first picked up a camera when I was 15—it was my dad's old DSLR, and I used to wander around my hometown taking photos of everything I could see. At university, I started shooting house parties and student events for fun, posting the photos on social media. Before I knew it, friends of friends were asking me to shoot their gigs, birthday parties, and even engagement shoots. Word spread quickly, and I realised I could turn my passion into a profession.
As a visual storyteller, my biggest influences come from the world of cinema and photography rather than music. I'm heavily inspired by documentary photographers like Sebastião Salgado, whose black-and-white work captures raw human emotion and dignity in every frame. In the world of event photography, Joe Buissink (a legendary wedding photographer) taught me that the best images happen when you anticipate moments rather than stage them. Cinematically, I draw from directors like Emmanuel Lubezki (the cinematographer behind Birdman and The Revenant), whose use of natural light and long, flowing shots has influenced how I approach event videography—I love capturing moving moments in single, uninterrupted takes.
I typically arrive 45–60 minutes before the event start time to scope out the venue, meet the coordinator, and set up my equipment. This gives me enough time to test lighting, check audio levels, and familiarise myself with the layout so I know exactly where to position myself for key moments. For larger events with multiple cameras or complex lighting setups, I may request up to 90 minutes of setup time. I generally stay for the full duration of your event—whether that's 2 hours or 12 hours—and I'm always the last person to leave, making sure I've captured every important moment from start to finish. I don't do 'sets' like a band would; instead, I work continuously throughout your event, documenting candid moments, formal proceedings, and everything in between. I'm happy to discuss a custom timeline that fits your event schedule—whether you need me just for the ceremony and speeches, or from getting-ready shots all the way through to the last dance.
Absolutely—some of my most memorable shoots have been outdoors! I love working with natural light and open spaces. However, I do have a few requirements to ensure your photos and videos look their best and my equipment stays safe:
I'll need access to a power source within 20 metres of where I'll be working for charging batteries and running continuous lights if needed
If possible, I'd appreciate some shade or cover nearby to protect my gear from direct sunlight (which can cause overheating) and to give me a spot to review shots on my laptop
A flat, stable surface for my tripods and light stands is essential—uneven grass or gravel can be tricky
For unpredictable British weather, I ask that the venue have a covered backup area or marquee we can retreat to if it starts raining. I have weather-sealed professional gear that can handle light drizzle, but heavy rain is a risk I won't take with expensive equipment
If the event is after sunset, I'll need to know what outdoor lighting is av
You're in the driving seat when it comes to what I capture—this is your event and your story, after all! Before the day, we'll have a consultation where we discuss exactly what matters most to you. I'll send you a shot list template that covers all the standard moments (venue details, guest arrivals, key ceremonies, speeches, cake cutting, first dances, etc.), and you can add or remove anything you'd like. I also encourage clients to share inspiration images or Pinterest boards so I understand the style and mood you're going for.
The words I hear most often from past clients are 'professional,' 'unobtrusive,' and 'storyteller.
I think the biggest difference is that I genuinely care about telling your story, not just ticking boxes on a shot list. I spend time before every event getting to know what matters most to you—whether that's capturing your nan's reaction during the speeches or making sure your corporate brand colours look perfect in every shot. I also bring the same level of care to both photography AND videography—many suppliers specialise in one or the other, but I'm equally passionate about both, which means you get a consistent, cohesive final package. Plus, I never outsource my editing—every image and every video frame is touched by my own hands, so the quality is always exactly what I'd want delivered to my own family.
