Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Technical requirements:
- Microphone (preferably cordless) + stand
- Speakers for backing tracks
- DI for the stage piano + piano bench
- A stage monitor
- A mixer for vocals (for reverb, eq, etc.)
- Professional sound engineer

What information do you require about a venue?

I require access for my stage piano and/or backing tracks. Please provide clear directions to the performance area, as well as details for parking or loading if needed. Kindly inform me in advance if the venue uses a sound limiter.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I don’t provide sound or lighting equipment. I require the venue to provide a sound system, microphone, stage monitor, and basic lighting.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I can provide both a Spotify playlist or a DJ-style service before and between my sets to keep the atmosphere flowing.

How many languages do you speak?

I speak French and English fluently (native languages), and I can get by in Spanish and Dutch. This facilitates communication between clients and I and makes the whole process smoother.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I have a performance history that includes selling out the A’DAM&Co. in the iconic A'Dam Toren in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) (extra tickets were sold, maximum capacity filled), The TD Stage in Montreal (Canada) (audience of about 10 000), the Limelight Sessions in Ede (The Netherlands) and the Sunroom Sessions in Amsterdam (The Netherlands).

What's your favourite type of event?

I love playing at all sorts of events but weddings and private events are my favourite! I love tailoring my sets to suit the style and needs of the clients, whether it’s delivering a romantic pop ballad, a smooth jazz standard, or the top-charts pop hits. From intimate settings to high-energy celebrations, I love it all!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started performing at a young age, first with a background in classical and opera before transitioning into pop. I've sung jazz, musical and soul my whole life, as well as composition later on, around the age of 15. Over the years, I’ve performed at private events, concerts, and intimate venues, both as a soloist with piano/backing tracks and in collaboration with other musicians. My experience ranges from weddings and corporate events to live shows in theaters and music venues, giving me the versatility to adapt to any audience and occasion.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I am highly influenced by modern artists like Billie Eilish, Raye, Ariana Grande and Olivia Dean, alongside timeless icons like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Stevie Wonder. At this moment, my favourite artist is Billie Eilish, for her artistry, creativity in her writing, and her talent. I believe the greatest song of all time is Bohemian Rhapsody, simply because no other song has ever come close to the its complexity, creativity and originality.

Is performing in events (weddings, etc.) your full-time job or do you have other jobs?

I have many jobs! I am actually a full-time singer-songwriter, and I go by the name of Rachel Rhea.

I am also a music, piano and singing teacher, dancer and actress!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I normally arrive about 1 hour before the performance to set up. I adapt to the needs of the clients, but I found that performing either 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets with 20 minute breaks in between works well for me. I am also happy to play a bit longer or shorter but the fee will adjust accordingly.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am happy to perform outside, as long as there is shade on a sunny day, and cover on a rainy day. I also require a power outlet/supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I always discuss the set list at least 2 months before the event with the client so I can tailor their needs and wishes. I share my repertoire list with them, the styles, the genres, etc, and we suggest a repertoire list that fits the event and follows the schedule of the event flawlessly. The clients can choose songs within my repertoire list, and in some cases, it's even possible to choose the order of the songs together. The clients are also welcome to let us choose the music for them, of course. If the clients would like me to learn specific songs before the event, I usually limit this to 5 songs.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Amongst other reviews I've received, I consider the following very suitable to describe my performances and style but also my process: ''She can sing incredibly beautifully, hits every note perfectly and gives a clean performance. She was extremely helpful with all the extra requests we had. She is punctual and professional, and can also read the room well!''. Previous customers wold describe me as professional, punctual and flexible, and my performance as touching/emotional, flexible (can be intimate but also energetic), impressive, and fun!

How long have you been performing?

I sang before I could even speak! Since the age of three, I have been immersed in multiple art forms including dance, music, and acting. I trained in classical piano for 8 years, and started training my voice first in the style of pop, then jazz, and eventually, opera. As a teenager, I began my classical training in opera in Montreal, concluding with a Master’s degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, to master my vocal technique and musical knowledge. So, to answer your question, I've been singing and performing my whole life!
