About / Biography

I studied jazz singing for a number of years with the Jazz School located in Northamptonshire.

With over 10 years singing experience I have performed across the counties of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire entertaining at open air events, cafes, pubs and private parties, bringing my unique style to jazz classics and standards.

I’m a self contained act as a solo performer I use backing tracks, with options for accompanists either additonal musician/s piano, or piano and double bass or a five peice band drums, sax, trombone, lead guitar and bass.

We perform a number of well known jazz standards and classic jazz ballads.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

The best gig for me in terms of venue and entertainment has been two charity garden party lunch events one of which was attended by the mayor and mayoress of Peterborough, it was an honour to be part of two worthy causes raising funds and seeing how much the patrons enjoyed the singing.

What's your favourite type of event?

I enjoy playing at all types of events however, for preference medium sized audiences up to 100 people where the audience is close by and I can see toe tapping and chair dancing are always rewarding and where space permits some dancing to latin jazz.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started out singing at open mics and jazz jams, leading to being asked to sing at birthday parties, charity events, a county fayre, a pub restaurant in locations across Cambrideshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My influences have benn moulded by singers such as Julie London, Doris Day, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McRea and musicians such as Waller,Ellington, Jobim, Porter and Carmichael, I love the melodies and lyrics of their works. My greatest song of all time is Georgia On My Mind.

How do people describe your voice after listening to you?

I've been told that my voice sounds smooth and intimate as if singing to a specfic person in the audience.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I like to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes before performing to set up and sound check with the band this extends to 45 minutes, performances run for 45 minutes with a 15 minute break and then another 45 minute set, I/we are happy to play for a slightly longer or shorter period not exceeding 60 minutes.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I/we are happy to play outside but coveris needed and access to a power supply if performing with the duet, trio or band.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients can choose from the song list provided and may request up to 3 specific songs for me/us to learn within the jazz genre, subject to sufficient time to learn the number, unfortunately requests at the event can't be accommodated.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

I think these extracts from pervious customer testimonials gives an idea of how my performances are received.

'Your performance helped make the day extra special, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed listening to you sing. Your enthusiasm and talent added such a lovely atmosphere to the event.' - Derek S

'Trudy and I would like to say a very big thank you to you for singing at our garden party on the 24th of June 26, when we hosted the June meeting of the KLPG. Your renditions of so many Jazz favourites was a delight to listen to, members were soon tapping their feet and singing along which really did put the top hat on a lovely day.' James and Trudy N.

'Lynette gave a 5***** performance singing lots of songs our residents knew without the words and putting her own beautiful personal touch on every song she sang.
Among many songs Lynette has performed for us we particularly liked ‘Blue Moon’ and found ourselves up and dancing along to this tune and many others.' Tizzy B - Activities Lead
