The Gus Moberg Travesty is a hard-hitting trio that brings roaring rock guitars to the jazz table, creating a unique sound that is both edgy and swinging. The band plays original music primarily, but can also be hired for standard jazz gigs, instrumental takes of rock- and- pop music, traditional music, and Americana.
The Gus Moberg Travesty consist of guitar, drums, and bass.
The band leader, Gus Moberg, accepts composing- and- arranging work for theater, TV, film, commercials, video games, or for other musical acts, and is well-versed in writing for many different genres.

We need a performance space of at least 4x4 meters, if the stage is raised. If the stage is on the floor, it could potentially work with a slightly smaller stage area. We need a PA system with one mic and one mic stand. We need a minimum of 4 power outlets to plug into.
We need to know if you have a soundguy available, directions to the venue, load-in for equipment, clearly stated agreement regarding pay and how to get paid (direct transfer or cheque).
We do not have our own lighting rig or PA system. We travel with: Guitar amp + pedalboard, bass amp, drumkit. We will use whatever lighting rig there is, or play without one if there is none available. For smaller venues, a PA system may not be needed at all. If a PA system is needed, it needs to be provided by the venue.
We have absolutely no problem using Spotify to DJ in between sets. We will happily choose the music, or let the client choose the music, or a mix of both.
I have, with other projects, played Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Uppsala Reggae Festival, headlined a street festival in Zaragoza, played the Calgary Jazz Festival, and done club gigs all over Sweden. The Gus Moberg Travesty has played smaller venues in Calgary.
The favorite kind of gigs for us are club gigs, festivals and functions.
I have played music for my whole life and gigging has just been the natural part of it that it usually is. I started playing rock gigs when I was 13 and had my first paid gig during high school.
Brian May is the reason I play the guitar. Queen is the closest I come to religion, which has led to my music, albeit being jazz, has become heavily influenced by rock guitar sounds and playing. If I have to choose one, I'd say that the best song of all time is "The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke" by Queen.
The Gus Moberg Travesty plays a music rooted in the jazz tradition, but with a healthy dose of rock guitar mixed into it in order to create the trio's own unique sound.
We usually arrive 30 - 60 min before the performance to set up, depending on the venue and gig. We are usually performing 2x45 minute long sets or one 75-90 min set. This is, however, subject to negotiation and to the client's request. We can do more sets, shorter sets, longer sets. For us, this is not set in stone but something we will adapt to from gig to gig.
We are happy to perform outside, but we do not want to risk our equipment standing in the rain. Thus, if there is a risk for rain, some kind of roof will be required. We also need a flat service and power supply available.
The clients are very welcome to request music, and we will make sure to get at least a few of those tunes. 3 tunes are doable for any given gig with at least one week's notice. More notice needed if more tunes are to be asked for.
Our performances have been said to be "face melting" in terms of the technique put on display. We are usually quite high-energy with lots of improvisation and jamming. The music has been spoken of as "John Scofield and John Abercrombie mixed with 80's rock"..
The Gus Moberg Travesty brings their own instruments, cables, amps, and pedals. We do not have our own lighting rid or PA system. We do not require a PA system or a lighting rig, but if the venue is of such a size that a mic most likely is needed to present the band and the music to the audience, a PA system with a mic, mic cord, and a mic stand is probably a good idea to have onsite.
