The Music of Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray is an American smooth jazz saxophonist and host of KDGL RADIO. However, not all of Mr. Gray’s music is smooth but at times has a “craggy, in yo’ face-ness” about it as well. His music is ideal for those who thrive on or at least would appreciate an audible gumbo of sound that music in general can provide. The difference here is that with Dorian, you get it all in one place, by one artist, at one time. Open wide and let the good sounds in!
But what’s the ‘craggy’ part like, Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away” or maybe more like Grand Funk Railroad’s “Crossfire”… is it even like anyone else we’ve heard play smooth jazz saxophone before?
On a different note, the blues artist and at the time two time grammy award winner Johnny Clyde Copeland, considered the sax player’s talent tour worthy and proposed this notion after Mr. Gray sat in on the first set of his live performance in New York City - with no rehearsals needed!
Having shared other stages with the likes of Lou Marini of Blood Sweat and Tears, Marvin Stamm, Kirk Whalum, Brenton Wood, Chris Walker, Angela Morgan (daughter of The Inkspots), and a few others, Dorian is no stranger to… let’s just say good music.
These are awesome memories and worth sharing with the public. Today, what new memories can you and KDGL RADIO make together?
Let KDGL RADIO featuring Dorian Gray enhance your special event and you will definitely have a “Gray” day!
It is also where you can hear a variety of original materials that blend in very nicely.

no special lighting required. if special stage lighting is available, I would have no problem with that.
i require at least an approximate 7' X 7' space to perform. if there is a raised stage of the same or greater size as the space requirement, that would be a plus.
a professional sound board with at least 4 inputs would suffice. whatever sized sound board there is, it must have the following six types of inputs:
bluetooth, one 1/8 in jack, our 1/4 in jack, four xlr inputs, one rca or auxillary input, and one usb (not type c)
(if unable to provide a board, special accommodations can be considered)
depending on the size of the room, one or two speakers to connect to the board.
cables with the connecting device compatible with the board and the speaker for flawless connection
two vocal mics and stands
one to possibly three power strips and extension cords
for the board and the speakers.
what is the earliest i can arrive to set up and sound check?
only non smoking/non vaping venues please
Please refer to the section entitled "basic technical requiirements".
yes. I'd be glad to provide music during the breaks.
if there are any specifics on what music to play during the breaks, please advise well in advance.
my first plane ride was overseas to perform several weeks of concerts and academy appearances in Europe
It was so memorable not only because of the music but the Europeans thought I was Michael Jackson. I ended up signing autographs as Michael for the children... lol
I love outdoor amphitheater type gigs...people are having a great time dancing and partying under the sky... it's amazing
I love talking about the gospel saxophone player who inspired me to play the saxophone - wow, almost fifty years ago! After imitating Vernard at many different churches for those first couple of years, I approached my junior high school band director to let him know that I was really good at playing solo sax in front of audiences. I asked if I could play for the black history program and he allowed me to do so. it became very successful... three shows - one for the 7th graders, 8th graders, and 9th graders. there was a roar in the crowd each time. Later, I was introduced to the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts just as I was moving into high school years. From there I learned jazz and blues and began to perform throughout the city, in various states and even in other countries while still in high school. The biggest show I did in high school was at the Newport jazz festival in Nice, France. I was there performing along with world class acts.

I like to get to performances 1 to 2 hours ahead of time depending on how familiar I am with the venue. Lately I've been doing a podcast where I will perform 30 minutes to an hour, take a break for the podcast, then come back for another couple of hours or so.
I'm pretty flexible.
I am happy to perform outside in amphitheaters, parks, etc.
I typically will ask clients if there's anything that they like that I'm not playing but that I might have already. if they mention something that I might be able to get very quickly, I'm willing to do it to make sure they have the best experience possible.
I've been told that I'm just as good as other famous saxophonists. They feel I belong in bigger places.
