2017 we performed at the arts and history festival in Reunion Island, it was amazing performing on the beach during sunset.
We recently also performed at Thabo Mbeki's 80th birthday with Tshepo Mngoma. A very prestigious and honorable event indeed. Loved it!!
Honestly we really just enjoy playing music for people. Weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, studio sessions, even collaborations.
I started playing the violin at the age of 7, being influenced by my father who is also a musician. I found my place at a music school in Soweto, I grew from there playing both violin and viola. I played in a touring orchestra called Buskaid string ensemble, gracing many stages around the world, UK, Colombia, France, New Zealand, USA, we were also voted in the top ten most influence youth orchestras. I then navigated my way into teaching and eventually formed a group with my brothers, whom also play instruments. Our fathers play for the soweto string quartet and hope that we can live up to be the next generation of the soweto string quartet.
I've been influenced by many artists. Primarily my father and uncles(soweto string quartet), definitely. I also look up to Miriam Makeba, Bra Hugh Masekela, Busi Mhlongo, Joyous Celebration, Sibongile Khumalo, Black Coffee, J Dilla, 9th Wonder, Thandiswa Mazwai, 50 Cent, Dr Dre, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza de Small, Mi Casa, just to name a few lol.
Greatest song of all time? Right now, on repeat, I'm listening to a song called "So Far Gone" by Common ft D'Angelo and J Dilla. A very beautiful song I believe.
