What’s paramount to me as a DJ is how to entertain a crowd, throwing away your ego and showing off your mixing and scratching skills is only a part of what makes a great DJ.
I've been lucky enough to be continuously DJing since 1986, when I only had turntables to learn my craft. Since then, I’ve kept up with the technology and skills needed to keep a busy dance floor, be it 20 or 2000 people.
I love all genres of music, but dance or house music in particular is my favorite. I've DJ'd events that wanted ska & reggae, indie & rock, 70s & 80s, soul, funk and disco right up to the current-day genres of pop, hip hop, RNB, D&B, hype, grime and drill.
Where my forte lies whilst DJing is reading a crowd, making that change if what I’m playing is not working and blending one genre into another. Weddings notoriously have a wide range of ages. You’ll please most people most of the time, but not all people all the time.
Knowing how much micwork you should use also comes with experience. Some crowds love an MC style of night, others just continuous mixing without a word.
Every crowd is different, so as a DJ my prerogative is planning and research. I will come fully armed with the best of my knowledge of who my crowd is and what they want, and together we can both enjoy a memorable musical experience.

I need a performance space of at least 3m2. I also require 240v power supply and a parking space if possible.
I need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. I’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Yes, I'm completely self contained. I bring my own PA system to all of my gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.
Yes, I can provide music inbetween sets at your event. I'm happy to choose the music myself or let the client choose the music.
Resident DJ at Dakota Cheltenham where I warmed up and closed for Calvin Harris.
I love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are my favourite! The guests are always happy and it’s easy to get them dancing.
I started in 1986 performing at Bristol City Football Stadium's VIP Lounge and since then have continuously been a resident in major nightclubs in the southwest of England.
My favourite artist is DJ David Morales, but my favourite track of all time has to be Hamilton Bohannan's Let's Start the Dance.
I normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up for a mobile set up, and 30 minutes before the performance for a club set up. My normal sets are between 5-6 hours with no breaks inbetween, but I'm happy to play a bit longer or shorter depending on the client's request.
I'm happy to play outside but I ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
I'm happy to liase with the client to find out what their requests are. If left up to my decision, I will then use my experience to engage with the crowd with the right genre choice.
Previous clients would decribe my performances as energetic, uplifting and entertaining with a surprising twist to keep them entertained through my mixing and clever choice of genre crossovers.
