= areas covered (up to 70 miles)DX Media requires the following to ensure a safe, legal, and high-quality drone operation: A minimum 5 x 5 meter open area for take-off and landing, with a 30 to 50 meter clear safety radius — no personnel in this zone during these phases. A 10 to 15 minute site lockdown is required during the main flyover with no moving cranes and minimal dust. Access to the highest point on site is required to maintain Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) as per SACAA regulations. Written permission from the site owner must be provided prior to operations. A full hazard list must be supplied in advance, including cranes, power lines, cell towers, and other drones on site. All No-Go areas must be communicated before operations begin. A contact person on radio must be available to pause site activity when required. For construction sites, a site induction and PPE — hard hat and high-visibility vest — must be provided.
To ensure a smooth and successful operation, DX Media requires the following information from the client: Venue Details — site name, pin location or maps link, physical address, and an on-site contact person with phone number. Safety Information — details of any cranes, high-voltage power lines, towers, nearby drone operations, and whether workers or members of the public will be present during the shoot. Site Access — whether PPE and a site induction are required, and the time of least activity on site. Shoot Requirements — what must be captured, any specific angles or boundaries to follow, and whether the deliverable is photos, video, or both. Paperwork — a signed letter of permission to fly over the property, and a client logo if a watermark is required on the final footage.
DX Media typically arrives 1 to 2 hours before the scheduled operation to conduct a thorough site or venue inspection. This pre-flight time is used to assess the environment, identify any hazards, confirm No-Go areas, review the shoot plan, and ensure all safety requirements are in place before take-off. This preparation time is essential to guarantee a smooth, safe, and efficient operation on the day.
