About / Biography

Welcome to FLASHBACK!

We are a six-piece live musical group. When we say live we mean LIVE... Five of our 6 members contribute to our vocals, then we add drums, bass guitar, keyboards and lead/rhythm guitar. We have our own sound system (engineered by one member) and lighting. We are comfortable at formal or casual occasions and dress appropriately for parties and themed events.

The band has been around since the mid-nineties entertaining Pinellas County and beyond at clubs and local venues. We have been the house band for a local club for over ten years and can be seen there at least once a month.

We enjoy playing oldies from the 50's and 60's, disco from the 70's, we have a little country and pop that give our customers the opportunity to dance, or just tap your fingers and toes to really good music.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

As a six-piece band, an appropriate stage with ample power supply for our equipment is ideal. We ask for time (usually 2 hours) to set-up, and need at least one hour to tear down. Our set lists offer 2 sets of over an hour's music and a small break in the middle.

What information do you require about a venue?

Location and access would be the first information needed. Event themes, or special requests (like access to a microphone, special songs) are necessary to know in advance.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We have more than adequate sound reproduction equipment. Our lead guitarist is our sound engineer and sets up all needed equipment in advance. We have appropriate lighting (no smoke or strobe lights) for our band's size and music.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Our sound engineer usually plays popular dance tunes before the show and during our mid-show break. We can accommodate requests in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

While some bands may tout a huge event in some unique location, our best gig is our house gig. We have been playing this local club for over ten years., and although the power can be a little finicky at times, the location offers a huge dance floor for the customers who pay to see us. Some like to listen, but we enjoy those who want to dance and sing with us.
Each year we make the rounds to different venues in our area. Each venue is a little different and requires flexibility for set-up. But in the end , it's the people that make it "the best".

What's your favourite type of event?

Our forte' is local venues and clubhouses that have an event to celebrate, or need some fun music for their gathering.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

FLASHBACK began it's life as a tribute band featuring the likenesses and music of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. Over time, we realized there is so much more great music to share with people.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Like a diamond, each era of music has it's 'facets'. Little sparkles of musical brilliance that dazzle and amaze us. Obviously, the entertainers previously mentioned (Elvis, P. Cline, Orbison and Buddy Holly) were our original inspiration. Over time, each decade has provided music and bands that makes us want to dance. Our band thinks long and hard about songs we take on. They have to mean something special to us as well as our customers.

Do you play bars and pubs?

FLASHBACK does not usually play the traditional bar and pub circuit. However, we are flexible and would certainly consider that opportunity.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

FLASHBACK is a six-piece band. As we supply our own sound equipment and lighting, we ask for 2 hours or more for and event set-up.
We do a small sound check in advance of the show. Our two sets follow a 20+ song (75 to 80 minutes) format with a break in between. At he end of the show, it will typically take an hour to tear down.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Florida is a great place to live with many outdoor events.
The ideal time for outdoor events is during our "winter" and spring times. The moderate temperatures and predictable weather is perfect for us.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We would look forward to talking to the client about music requests.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Music and dancing is a fun-filled and interactive occasion. Our customers enjoy the wide array of covers we offer, and our dedication to bringing it to the people.
