About / Biography

I'm Nikki, a photographer based in Bruges.

I photograph people and animals, and I love the moments in between: the glance across the room, the grandpa who dances anyway, the dog who steals the show during the vows. I work calmly and stay out of the way, so you can enjoy your day while I make sure it's remembered.

Weddings
From the getting ready to the first dance, or just the ceremony and the portraits. We start with a conversation about your day, your people and what matters most to you, so I know exactly what to look out for. Dogs welcome, obviously.

Events
Parties, launches, charity events, festivals and gatherings of all kinds. I regularly photograph events for animal charities, so I'm used to a lively crowd, on two legs and four.

Private creative workshops
Looking for an activity for your group that isn't another brunch? I host creative photo workshops of about three hours, on a date and at a place of your choice. Great for birthdays, hen parties and team afternoons. Everyone goes home with something they made themselves.

Portrait sessions
For animals, people, or both together. A guided session with a preparation meeting beforehand and a personal Reveal afterwards, where you choose your favourite images.

Prints that last
Fine art prints on Hahnemühle cotton paper and linen photo books, chosen with care for nature and made to last.

Get in touch through Gig Heaven and tell me about your plans. I'd love to hear them.

Practical Info

What information do you require about a venue?

The address and the best place to park, plus a contact person on the day. For weddings and events I'd love a timeline of the day and to know whether there are any places where photos aren't allowed (some churches and venues have rules about that). Are animals part of the day? Let me know, then I'll plan around them. For workshops I need to know the size of the room and whether we can use tables.

What do you need from the venue on the day (space, power, access, parking)?

For photography: just a parking spot nearby and access when the day starts. I work with my own gear and travel light. For workshops: a room or space with a table for each participant, good light (daylight is a bonus) and one power socket for my printer.

How long do you need to set up and pack down?

For photography: no setup needed, I'm ready the moment I walk in. For workshops: about 30 minutes to set up and 20 minutes to pack down, and I can do both quietly without disturbing anyone.

Do you have public liability insurance and any relevant certificates?

Yes, I hold professional liability insurance as a registered self-employed photographer in Belgium. Certificate available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Photographing events for animal charities, like the dog walks and open days of the shelters I support. A field full of muddy, happy dogs and their people is my idea of a perfect day at work.

What's your favourite type of event?

Anything where people (and their animals) actually enjoy themselves. Weddings with a dog in the wedding party are a personal favourite. Small, warm gatherings where everyone knows each other come a close second: that's where the best looks and laughs happen.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Today I run my own studio in Bruges, where I photograph animals and people, and I'm the chair of a local photography club. I photograph weddings, events and charity days for animal organisations, and I host creative photo workshops for groups.

What makes you different from others offering something similar?

I meet every client beforehand, because I want to know who matters to you before the day starts. On the day I work calmly and stay out of the way, so nobody feels like they're on a photo shoot. And I'm completely at ease with animals, so if your dog is part of the family, they're part of the photos too. You'll always get me, never a stand-in.

Service Info

Can what you offer be tailored to the event or the audience?

Always. Before every wedding or event we have a conversation about your day, your guests and the moments that matter most to you, so I know exactly who and what to look out for. Want more candid moments or more group photos, a few quiet portraits away from the crowd, or the dog in every other shot? Just say so. Workshops can be adapted to your group too: a birthday, a hen party or a team afternoon each get their own twist.

What is included in your standard service or package?

Weddings and events: a conversation beforehand to plan the day, careful editing and a private online gallery where you can view, download and share your photos . Fine art prints and linen photo books can be ordered straight from the gallery.
Private workshops: about three hours of creative photography for 2 to 6 people, all materials included, and everyone goes home with something they made themselves. A mini-shoot or an extra print can be added per person.

How far in advance should customers book you?

For weddings, the earlier the better, as Saturdays in spring and summer go first. 3 to 6 months is ideal. For events and workshops, a few weeks is usually enough. Short notice? Ask anyway, I might just have a free date.

How do previous clients most commonly describe working with you?

Patient, warm and relaxed. The word that comes up most in my reviews (5.0 on Google) is patience, with children, with nervous first-timers and especially with animals. One client wrote that I managed to win over her usually shy little dog. Others mention that they felt at ease straight away, even with no experience in front of the camera, and that the shoot never felt forced. Event clients describe me as flexible: I photographed an entire election campaign, from individual portraits to large groups, and after covering their dog walk and festival, one organiser asked me to become their regular event photographer.
