About / Biography

We are an oriental dance troupe expert in Middle East dances and we use the language of dance not only as a tool for artistic storytelling, but also as a space for social gathering, listening, and sharing. The dance repertoire proposed by Francesca and the Baharat Dancers ranges from classical raqs sharqi and Egyptian and Middle Eastern folklore, to Mediterranean and modern fusions, while always maintaining an authentic connection to the traditions and original roots of belly dance. During our performances we use also props like veils, isis wings, fan veils, cane, sword, candlestick, to create different atmospheres and adapt to the requests of the customer.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

For the performance, we require a rectangular space approximately 5 meters deep x 8 meters wide, free of lateral or vertical obstructions. The floor must be smooth but not slippery. We also require audio equipment for the music (a sound system with a PC and speakers or a mixer with amplification and the necessary cables for connecting an iPod or phone).

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know the exact address of the venue where the event will be held, the type of venue, and whether the performance will be held indoors or outdoors, and in which specific spaces.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We can provide simple lighting equipment if needed, but the audio service must be provided by the client, including technical staff.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from our private IPod folder before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music."

Frequently Asked Questions

We performed oriental dance entertainement for a turkish-american wedding in Castello Brancaccio, San Gregorio di Sassola (Rome).

What's your favourite type of event?

We love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are our favourite, because the guests are always happy and it’s easy to get them dancing!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Over the past three years, our company has performed in theater shows, oriental dance festivals, corporate training meetings, weddings and charity events.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We love iconic and famous bellydancers like Jillina and Bellydance Superstars, but also traditional egyptian dance groups like Reda Troupe. We like to range from tradition to modernity to meet the different tastes of the public.

What kind of dance company are you?

We are a close-knit and lively dance group, using the language of dance not only as a tool for artistic storytelling and entertainment, but also as a space for social gatherings, listening, and sharing.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up and we prefer have the possibility to do a stage rehearsal and an audio test. We normally perform 2 x 10 minute sets or 3 x 10 minute with a break between the sets. We’re happy to dance a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We usually learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 5-6 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers would describe us as a high energy group that loves to get the audience on their feet dancing.

What kind of performances do you offer?

We offer a carefully curated, varied and certainly lively performance that will entertain and delight the audience with elegance and professionalism.
