    *****

Graciela is a singer-songwriter from Galicia (Spain) established in the UK from the last 20 years. In early stages of her career she completed studies in classical, jazz singing and musical education, performing classical, jazz, pop, Latin, Spanish pop and electronic music in Spain and Puerto Rico. She performed on prestigious stages and TV stations such as Glastonbury and BBC TV’s "Children in Need". Not to mention touring across Europe with Björk and working alongside Ricky Martin and Shakira. Graciela Rodriguez has nurtured her talent in many groups, most notably singing with ‘the Godfather of Salsa’ Roberto Pla, and the funksters J-Sonics, with sold-out concerts at the London Latin Jazz Festival or Ronnie Scott’s. Her styles are diverse and eclectic, and go in phases depending on life. Her latest album, "Flower Panther", is of an intimate singer-songwriter healing nature inspired by her spiritual journey.

She performs either as a solo singer, accompanied by her backing tracks or guitar, depending on style, or by her musicians in duo, trio or band formats. You can see her singing regularly at Sarastro in Covent Garden.

We need to know the venue's exact address and postcode, and have an easy place to unload our equipment directly or as close to the perforoming space as possible.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we can provide sound and lights for solo, duo, trio and quartet. But we would prefer that there is a sound system already at the venue, as it will be more suited.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

"Best" doesn't always mean "more famous" or "biggest" :) But I sang for the prime minister of Kazakhstan on a private meeting, for the prime minister of Tanzania on his birthday. That was important but not necessarily my "best" gig. One of my best gigs was singing my own songs wiht my trio in a little pub in Spain for about 20 people. But I have also sang as a choir singer for Björk, that was huge, an unforgettable experience, as I toured with her for a few weeks. Venues I have sang at: Her Majesty's Theatre (London), Glastonbury Festival, Canary Wharf Jazz Festival, Newham Live 2012 (Olympics), The Dorchester, Windsor Racecourse, London Jazz Festival...

What's your favourite type of event?

It depends on the music style.
If it was my choice, I would be performing my own songs with my band filling up stadiums :)
But I am happy singing for private events, restaurants, hotels, pubs, cafes, and big corporate events alike.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I always wanted to be a singer. I have all the studies in music, classical singing, jazz singing, musical education... I have a degree in Musical Education Sciences, a Degree in Classical Singing and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Jazz Singing, aside from numerous courses in vocal technique, choral direction, guitar, piano, etc. Music is my passion and my life purpose. I am currently writing a book called "True Singing". I taught music and singing in schools, academies and music schools, as well as privately. I have conducted orchestras, bands, choirs and led several types of bands. I write, arrange and produce my own music. I started singing publicly at the age of 14 in a group of guitars at my first music school and from then onwards everywhere you can think. To me music is my gift, my everything, and I am blessed to be able to express myself through it and make a living out of it.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Madonna. Those 3 were the greatest music influences in my childhood and teens. But also the classical orchestras and concert bands that my father played on the vinyl player. Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, as singers, have been my greatest examples to follow. The greatest song of all time, probably Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, and also "Moody's Mood for love" by Quincy Jones.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Arriving 1-2 hours before show time, depending on the format and event.
Normally performing 2x45min or 2x60min. We adapt depending on requirements.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, only in the summer / if the weather is warm.
We also need a flat hard surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 3 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

The most common comment I always hear is "you are incredible!" - and similar things :)
They say I am so versatile and "I sound like the original artist", or that "I sound like a record", very in tune, etc.
