About / Biography

I'm Immy, a live wedding and events singer specialising in funk, jazz and acoustic, performing across the UK and Europe. I offer two distinct sounds: funk and jazz sets that get people relaxed, enjoying themselves and dancing, or my acoustic sets. These are slower, more stripped back, perfect either for a ceremony or for an upbeat reception.

I've been performing live since I was 13, solo and in bands, and I started privately singing at weddings and events in 2014. That experience really pays off: I know how to blend in to the background, hold a crowd, and stay calm and easy to work with from our first conversation.

I sing live funk and jazz: old classics and modern hits reworked into feel-good grooves that loosen everyone up, bring the good vibes and get people dancing. Expect artists like Stevie Wonder, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Olivia Dean, ABBA, Earth Wind & Fire and plenty more.

For the gentler moments, like your wedding ceremony, it's just me, my voice and live guitar or piano in stripped-back acoustic sets. Acoustic is where my wedding singing began, so it's close to my heart. I can cover the whole ceremony: songs as your guests arrive, your walk down the aisle, music during the signing of the register, and a song to send you back up the aisle as a married couple.

I also do upbeat, stripped-back acoustic sets that bring the joy too, just in a different way to funk and jazz.

Book me for your event, wedding ceremony, or your drinks reception, or both together. I make sure my sets suit your timings, with optional extras like additional sets and learnt songs so I can perform the tracks that mean the most to you. I can mix genres if that's what you'd like.

I bring and set up all my own professional kit, and I'll happily learn any special songs in advance. The result is simple: beautiful music, a great atmosphere, and a big group of guests having a great time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

The best gig

What's your favourite type of event?

My favourite gig has to be Becca and Josh's wedding in Gloucestershire. During their ceremony I sang a song that brought tears to people's eyes, including the bride and groom's. Being trusted with a moment that emotional is a real privilege.

Later I played an hour-long set at their outdoor reception, on the grass by a big open tent. Guests flocked over from the drinks and gathered round the music - dancing, singing along, some sitting on the grass listening. It was a mix of funk, jazz and acoustic, and the whole thing felt relaxed, joyful, and like everyone was having the best time.

Then, right at the end came a moment I'll never forget: I privately sang a special song for the couple as they had a first dance with nobody watching, just the two of them. So tender - and a completely different magic to the party minutes before.

That day sums up what I bring: moving people in the quiet moments, getting a crowd having a brilliant time, and creating something beautiful for the couple.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started gigging with different church bands as a 13 year old, and played in bands and sang consistently ever since. In 2014 I sang at my first wedding, and I fell in love. Since then I've been in different choirs, bands, and have performed at many private weddings and events.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I've been influenced by hundreds of artists over the years, and I think that's exactly why my sets cover so much ground! I'm not really a fan of just one person. I fall for different artists for different reasons — the soul of Stevie Wonder and Etta James, the songwriting of Amy Winehouse, the pure joy of Earth Wind & Fire and ABBA, and newer voices like Olivia Dean.

And the greatest song of all time? Ask me on a different day and you'll get a different answer! But if you put me on the spot, it's hard to beat "Dancing Queen" by ABBA...!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I take 1hr30 to set up, and my sets are usually in pairs, 45-60 minutes long with a break between them.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes!

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

You can let me know if there are specific songs you want to hear, and I'll accommodate wherever possible.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Joyful, beautiful, fun, relaxed - that I know when to be high energy and when to make it atmospheric! "Good vibes" is a common phrase.
