I started out as a pianist in a band, playing internationally, before transitioning to a solo pianist. This journey has allowed me to perform across a variety of venues and events.

I’ve been influenced by a mix of artists, from Ludovico Einaudi and his beautiful piano pieces to Gerry Cinnamon and his raw, acoustic storytelling. My favorite artist would be either Einaudi or Gerry Cinnamon, depends on the mood! The greatest song of all time? For me, it has to be “Belter” by Gerry Cinnamon, it always hits the right spot.

Hello, I’m Ashley Purrington, the heart and hands behind Ivory Vows. My love for music began at age 11 when I taught myself to play piano.
While studying GCSE music at school, I was entered into an annual pianist competition and gained 1st place for under 16s at the Rose Theater in Chesterfield, England.
While serving 4 years in the Royal Air Force, I continued to pursue my passion, playing in a band called The Smashing Penguins in my spare time, with memorable performances in the Falkland Islands.
Life brought me to Canada when I met my fiancée, Gillian, and after three years in Toronto, we settled in Chatham in 2023, where I launched Ivory Vows just 2 months later. From my very first wedding, I knew I was doing what I loved most—being part of these emotional and unforgettable moments.
When I’m not at the piano, I work as a K9 detection handler, spending my days with my dogs. I’m passionate about bringing the perfect musical touch to every special day.

I usually arrive 1 before the performance to set up and soundcheck. Performance times vary depending on the event but typically range from 1 to 3 hours, split into sets if needed.

Absolutely! As long as there’s shelter and access to power, I’m more than happy to perform outdoors.

Clients are always welcome to choose songs from my repertoire, and I’m happy to learn special requests to make the day personal. It’s all about creating the perfect vibe for your event.
