Hailing from Montreal, the IZZO BLUES COALITION (IBC) is led by renowned Canadian guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer Tino Izzo, accompanied by his longtime drummer, Bob Telaro. This incisive blues project is rounded out by seasoned bassist Domenic Romanelli and the incredible vocalist Annie Major-Matte, whose powerful and expressive voice delivers on her promise of an "authentic live musical experience."
This hard-hitting band is rock-solid, and Izzo's guitar skills are exceptional. Annie's voice is classic and powerful, and her musical vocabulary is impressively mature. Their covers of Johnny Winter, Etta James, and Albert King, among others, blend seamlessly with their original compositions, showcasing their versatility and talent.
Izzo displays the full subtlety of his guitar playing, highlighting his captivating fingerpicking technique and impeccable technique. It is not just about technique and speed, but also about tone, feeling, intention and precision that Tino Izzo effortlessly conveys with his guitar while using his characteristic fingerpicking style; this, combined with a fiery vocal performance from Annie Major-Matte and the rock-solid rhythmic wall that Romanelli and Telaro provide, makes IBC a strong and unmissable electric experience of contemporary blues rock.
