Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Performing with a full 60 person orchestra behind me at Tempe Center of the Arts has to be my favorite experience. The power of all those musicians, an amazing audience in a beautiful venue- at just under 1000 seats a perfect size for what I do.

What's your favourite type of event?

Company parties- I especially love holiday parties, but all events that bring teams together and allows people to get outside of their normal work mode and laugh and enjoy are great.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started performing at 8 years old, so a love of entertaining has been with me since I was very young. I am so lucky to travel across the country and do this full time.

What makes you different from others offering something similar?

I would say the level of interaction with people- whether it's using humor and bringing people up for tricks, it's all about using interaction to create unforgettable moments. That starts with communication before the show to make sure I deliver for you. Next would be flexibility- having done many different events over the past 40 years, I am flexible to entertain all different audiences in different settings. I have a few pretty unique tricks, too!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I schedule at least an hour for about a 10 minute unload and 30 minute stage set up prior to audience arrival and need a 45 minute break down window to complete my 30 minute load out. A stage show is typically 1 hour when there is a seated audience without distraction. If you are doing an evening with multiple presenters or activities, a 30 minute stage show is usually good.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes! Fire juggling at sunset is especially effective.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

“Just Awesome!!! He was Incredible - Very Fun - Very Entertaining - Very Charismatic!! I'd highly Recommend him!!!”
Russ T, Competitive Engineering
“Thank you for being part of our show. The best part about the show is that we had a hard time finding something that would entertain both kids and adults alike. We found the answer in your show where not only the kids but also the adults were enthralled. Thank you again!”
Vijay Arya, IBM
“We just had James at our event Thursday night with a crowd of 100 and he was Great! He's very talented, personable and did a scary juggling act with knives around our CEO's head and it was a big hit with the audience.”
Cathy Vohountka, Richard James Company
“It (teambuilding) was a lot of fun. You are quite the talented performer. Everyone enjoyed the training session. Thanks, I appreciate you coming to Caremark for the afternoon.”
Thomas Messier, CVS/Caremark

Can what you offer be tailored to the event or the audience?

Of course! I can flex the length and content of my show, or change it up completely and provide just visual (ambient) entertainment instead of my interactive show. I have small, battery powered sound that works great in situations where a full set up is not possible. I can often incorporate your theme or product into the performance.
