Lumar Imaji Music Hip Hop Artists, songwriter, Presenter, Event Coordinator and Actor

INTRODUCTION

Lawrence Ngubeni also professionally known as Lumar Imaji/Kidovele was born on the 11 May, grew up in a township, Etwatwa, Daveyton, Benoni, City of Ekurhuleni East Rand Gauteng.

Lawrence started realizing his art talent through writing poems at primary school, which he performed/recited them at school special days, e.g. Fun Day, Spring Day etc.

He also had an opportunity to learn the basics of Drama/Theatre.

Through his poetry skills, he started listening to music, Hip Hop and R&B. In Grade 8 he started learning the skill of writing his own music, more especially RAP/Hip-hop with the influence from South African and American artists like Cassper Nyovest, Lil Wayne, KO, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Drake just to name a few.

In Grade 9 he wrote his first single "Tragedy" but never got an opportunity to record it, he started freestyling and dancing (krumping) for it made him popular, within the same year he got into a rap battle, for the first time in his career, with his classmate Benford "Tonic" Meso, unfortunately he lost the battle, but gained the respect from the spectators.

2018, he got his first feature by Eclipse and Nandi on a track title "Unique" produced by BlaqJesus, months later, he got a chance to record his first single All I Wanted produced by Snõwmañ from that day he became a musical favorite, started working with other artists, like Blame Shaun, Sjensu, Flow killer, Boohlekay, Cubic N, Staff Bantwana and many others.

He released his first single Dreams feat Snowbeat in 2022

As an artist he is not only focused on the music... he is an Actor; he got an opportunity to be featured on Shaka Lembe as an extra under Becky Casting agency. He was a presenter for an initiative called STREET RADIO SHOW, a subsidiary program for Phaphama Arts and Film Production, also an Event Coordinator.

CURRENT:

• Working on new music for Behind Closed Doors album, The Street Mixtape and visuals.

ACHIEVEMENT:

✓ He is a member and secretary of Phaphama Arts and Film Production, they were profiled in a newspaper article by Ekurhuleni News, twice for Street Radio Show and an Art event they hosted called Art and Media Street Market.

✓ He was nominated as the Best Upcoming Artist at the Local Arts and Media Awards (LAMA)

✓ Successfully hosted 10 episodes of Street Radio Shows, as the Presenter and Coordinator.

√ Has performed in over 18 events since he started his career on promotional base, non payment acquired.
