Kio DJ’s passion for music began at an early age. At just 15, he formed his first musical group with support from the local mayor's office, which led to performances at Christmas celebrations throughout Bogotá. In 2006, he secured his first record deal with Flamingo Records and Diamond Music, releasing his first singles, "Bomba (Lil Slim)", "La Playa", and "Palabras del Alma" (featuring Karol G).
In 2010, Kio DJ participated in Daddy Yankee’s Big Boss Tour, performing in Cali, Medellín, and Bogotá. He collaborated with artists such as J Balvin, Yelsid, Jay el Exagerado, Final y Shako, and Dragon y Caballero.
Together with music producer Master Chris, Kio DJ helped create the anthem for the Juan Pablo Montoya Foundation, featuring Zion Y Lennox and Gabielle.
In 2010, Kio DJ moved to Los Angeles, where he signed with White Horse Records and became a resident DJ at the Do-Over. During his time in Los Angeles, he made history as the first Colombian DJ to perform at the Playboy Mansion and Soho West Hollywood. Additionally, Kio DJ ventured into acting, landing a role in the Showtime series "Next Stop Charlie", directed by Neil Mandt.
Upon returning to Colombia in 2011, Kio DJ worked with El Laboratorio Musical and Jerau to release the single "Date La Vuelta". He also assisted with the artistic development of Juliana Cadena, known as DJ Queen, who became Colombia’s first Playboy DJ. Together, they embarked on a three-year international tour, introducing their singles "Here We Are" and "La Vida" for a Zumba workout video.
He collaborated with Dexter Hamilton (Grupo Bip) to produce Rafa Casado’s songs "Azul Del Cielo" and "Corazón En Llamas". Kio DJ also worked as the musical director for "Colombia En Su Tinta", sponsored by the Colombian National TV Commission (CNTV).
In 2014, Kio DJ moved to Dubai and began performing at Savage Garden, marking the start of his residency in the Middle East. Over the years, he performed in various countries including France, Oman, and Turkey. In 2018 and 2019, he performed at the F1 Abu Dhabi, and in 2018, he released his second single, "Da Wata".
During this period, Kio DJ became a resident DJ at renowned clubs such as Ocati, Sensation, Frevo, Inka, Spice and Ice, Beef Bar, Crazy Fish, and Hotel Cartagena. In 2018, he signed an exclusive contract with Pragma Group, becoming a resident DJ at Billionaire Mansion and later at Cirque Le Souir. By 2019, he secured a residency at Cavalli Club, rated the #2 club in the world.
Kio DJ released his third single, "Akinatora", in the summer of 2020. Along with DJ Sad Cat, they began working on an album that blends Latin and Arabic fusion sounds, featuring McMoney, Shako, and King Daga.
In 2020, Kio DJ continued performing in various clubs such as Sky5, Blu Dubai, Blu Sky Lounge, Nova, Mafia Dubai, Bella, and more. His track "Money" (with DJ Sad Cat and McMoneyplus) reached the top 10 on hip hop charts.
Kio DJ made history as the first Colombian DJ to perform in Saudi Arabia shortly after the country lifted its ban on music and entertainment. His performance marked a milestone for both him and the Saudi music scene, as it was a pivotal moment following the country's entertainment reforms.
Throughout 2020 and 2021, Kio DJ continued to gain recognition in the Middle East, securing additional high-profile gigs in cities like Abu Dhabi and Riyadh. He also collaborated with emerging artists from the region to create a unique blend of Latin and Arabic sounds, further expanding his musical influence.
In 2024, Kio DJ was awarded the Dolby Atmos Award for his contributions to innovative sound engineering. This recognition comes as he continues to shape the soundscape in the Middle East and beyond.
During the same year, Kio DJ also introduced his new musical venture: Afro-Colombian House, a genre blending traditional Colombian rhythms with house beats. His work in this new style has already gained attention with singles such as "Afro Juana", "Afro Skola", and "Sacar Del Alma".
In 2024, Kio DJ performed once again at the prestigious F1 Abu Dhabi, marking a major milestone in his career. His appearances at top events such as the F1 and his work in the Afro-Colombian House genre solidify his position as a respected and influential figure in the Middle east
