Stray is an alternative magician and entertainer who blends sleight of hand, telekinetic flair, and mind-bending illusions with sharp, offbeat humor and a distinctly personal style. Every show is a journey: from playful misdirection to unexpected laughs, Stray thrives on creating moments that surprise, delight, and sometimes even challenge the audience’s expectations. Drawing on years of performing experience in casinos, street shows, and intimate venues, Stray specializes in connecting deeply with young adult audiences, turning every trick into a shared experience that feels fresh, edgy, and alive.
Whether performing a quick, dazzling street act or a longer, interactive show, Stray’s magic is infused with storytelling, wit, and a sense of rebellious fun that keeps audiences engaged and entertained from start to finish. Each performance is carefully crafted, mixing classic illusions with modern, personal twists and a playful, irreverent energy that leaves a lasting impression. Stray doesn’t just perform magic—he invites audiences into a world of wonder, mischief, and laughter, creating unforgettable experiences that linger long after the final trick.
Based in Surrey Central, Stray is available for gigs across Metro Vancouver, from Surrey to downtown, Granville Island, and the Waterfront.

The most memorable gig I ever did was at the Olympic Oval, performing magic for a huge crowd of over a hundred people. The energy was electric, and it was amazing to see my illusions captivate such a big audience. I hope to bring that kind of excitement to more large-scale shows in the future.
My favorite types of events are walkaround parties for young adults. They’re the perfect mix of energy and excitement, and I love getting to meet new people while showing them unique magic they’ve never experienced before.
I’ve been a full-time professional magician for over 20 years, starting at age thirteen with my very first show at a friend’s birthday party—paid, of course, in cake! Over the years, I’ve studied with some of the most respected minds in magic, including Shawn Farquhar, Gregory Wilson, and Chad Long, honing both sleight-of-hand and stagecraft. I specialize in alternative magic that blends clever illusions with humor and storytelling, and I love creating moments of wonder for young adult audiences and anyone who enjoys experiencing something truly unique. Magic isn’t just a career for me—it’s a passion, a calling, and a way to share delight in ways people won’t see anywhere else.
My favorite magician of all time is David Blaine—his nonchalant attitude and the way he lets his magic speak for itself are huge inspirations. Beyond magic, I draw inspiration from a wide range of artists, from painters and poets to alternative musicians and fashion designers. Bands like Paramore, Joyce Manor, and Linkin Park have influenced the energy, emotion, and storytelling I bring to my shows. I’m drawn to passionate works that make me feel something, and I try to channel that same energy into every performance.
Setup: 15–20 minutes (for walkaround, stand-up, or stage shows; includes organizing props and testing sound if applicable)
Performance: 20 minutes – 2 hours
Short shows: 20–30 minutes (perfect for parties or casual gigs)
Medium shows: 45–60 minutes (great when you’re the main entertainment)
Extended shows: up to 2 hours (ideal for weddings, receptions, or festival performances)
I usually prefer indoor or covered spaces, but I’m happy to perform outdoors—just keep in mind I can comfortably perform in the sun for up to an hour. I also strongly prefer well-defined, flat stage areas to ensure the audience doesn’t move through the performance space and the show runs safely and smoothly.
Clients are welcome to request specific tricks, but all performances are at my sole discretion. I select tricks based on the audience and the event to create the most engaging experience. Certain specialty tricks, such as ‘Cake from a Hat,’ are available for birthday shows for an additional fee.
Clients often tell me my shows blow their expectations out of the water! They describe me as energetic, funny, and charismatic, with a mysterious, theatrical flair that keeps audiences on their toes. My crowd work and adaptability are frequently praised—whether I’m performing a high-energy group show or intimate close-up magic, I read the room and deliver exactly what it needs. People leave my shows laughing, amazed, and talking about them long after the last trick. Many have called me their go-to magician for future events, which is the highest compliment I could ask for.
