About / Biography

As an experienced and dedicated Highland piper, I offer a distinguished and memorable musical service for events of every kind. The sound of the Great Highland Bagpipes has a unique ability to elevate any occasion — from moments of deep emotion to powerful celebrations — and my role is to bring that atmosphere with professionalism, precision, and authenticity.

A Tradition of Excellence

My piping is rooted in the rich heritage of Scottish music and ceremony. Drawing on years of performance experience, I deliver a high standard of musicianship, discipline, and presentation. Whether performing traditional marches, stirring laments, or uplifting melodies, I tailor my musical selections to suit the tone and flow of your event.

Events I Perform At

• Weddings
Enhance your special day with iconic bagpipe traditions. I can pipe guests’ arrival, lead the bridal procession, perform during the signing of the register, or create a grand exit. My repertoire suits both romantic and formal atmospheres.

• Funerals & Memorials
The bagpipes carry a uniquely emotional weight, offering comfort, dignity, and tribute. I perform respectfully and sensitively to honour your loved one, with appropriate tunes such as slow airs, laments, or family favourites.

• Corporate Events
From formal ceremonies to product launches, the pipes add prestige and impact. I provide a strong presence, immaculate uniform, and carefully selected music to suit the theme and tone of your organisation’s event.

• Burns Night & Scottish Celebrations
I bring authenticity and energy to Burns Suppers, Hogmanay, St Andrew’s Day, and clan gatherings with a repertoire of iconic Scottish tunes and lively marches.

• Private Functions
Birthdays, anniversaries, garden parties, or any personal celebration — the pipes create a memorable surprise and a highlight moment for your guests.

• Ceremonial & Military-Inspired Events
Parades, honour guards, award ceremonies, and formal proceedings can all be elevated by the disciplined and traditional presence of a Highland piper.

Professional Appearance & Presentation

I perform in full Highland dress appropriate to the occasion—ranging from formal attire with feather bonnet and ceremonial plaids, to more understated daywear for intimate events. My uniform and personal presentation reflect the highest standards of piping tradition.

Personalised Music Selection

Every event is unique. I work with you in advance to choose or recommend music that suits the moment perfectly. My repertoire includes:

  • Traditional marches, strathspeys, and reels

  • Slow airs and laments

  • Iconic tunes such as Highland Cathedral, Flower of Scotland, Scotland the Brave, and Amazing Grace

  • Custom requests where suitable for the instrument

I ensure the timing and transitions between tunes fit seamlessly into your event schedule.

Reliable, Punctual, and Easy to Work With

From initial enquiry to final performance, you can expect clear communication, flexibility, and a professional attitude. I arrive early, fully prepared, and ready to adapt to any last-minute changes. My goal is to make the musical element of your event stress-free and unforgettable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One of the most meaningful and unforgettable performances of my career was the honour of serving as the solo piper at the cenotaph in Whitehall during a remembrance event. Standing in such a historic and solemn setting, playing to honour veterans and fallen service members, was a moment of deep pride and responsibility. The stillness of the crowd, the echo of the pipes between the buildings, and the significance of the occasion make it a performance I will always carry with me.

What's your favourite type of event?

My favourite type of event is one where the bagpipes can truly set the tone and create a lasting memory , whether it’s a wedding, a memorial, or a public ceremony. There’s something magical about seeing the emotion on people’s faces as the pipes fill the space, whether it’s joy, reflection, or solemn respect. I particularly love ceremonial and remembrance events, such as the time I performed as the solo piper at the Cenotaph in Whitehall , the sense of history and honour in that moment is unmatched.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I began my journey as a Highland piper out of a love for Scottish tradition and the powerful, emotive sound of the bagpipes. Over the years, I have built extensive experience performing at a wide variety of events, from intimate private functions to large public ceremonies.

Some highlights of my career include performing as the solo piper at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, leading processions at weddings, and playing at corporate and celebratory events across the UK. I have also performed at Burns Nights, clan gatherings, and memorial services, always adapting my repertoire and style to suit the occasion.

I started gigging locally, performing for family and community events, and gradually expanded to weddings, corporate functions, and public ceremonies. Each performance has allowed me to refine my technique, stage presence, and ability to connect with audiences, ensuring every event I play at is memorable and meaningful.
