_______________

Martin Lemos was born in Montevideo in 1981. At the age of 11, he began studying classical piano. Following this path, he entered the pre-university music school of Uruguay at the age of 17. During this period, thanks to his brother, he began studying classical guitar, learning folk songs from his country, such as milonga and candombe. At the age of 18, he wrote his first songs together with his brother Jose Lemos, with whom he formed a band called Acalanto, inspired by Argentine rock music. Over time, he became interested in Brazilian music, such as bossa nova and samba, learning songs by composers such as Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, etc. During this period, he began studying jazz and blues piano, which allowed him to deepen his knowledge of modern harmony, thus enriching his compositions. Before leaving Uruguay, he played for several months in the popular candombe group Morenada, after which he moved to Spain. There he became fascinated with flamenco, thanks to his teacher Rafael Rodriguez.

In Madrid, he obtained a diploma in advanced modern music from the Rock School and began teaching guitar and piano at two private schools. Over the course of 20 years, he has played live in many venues with various musicians from the city, such as Pablo Sciuto, with whom he recorded several tracks in his recording studio called Circo Sonoro. He took master classes in jazz piano with Mariano Diaz and Nicolas De Retes. In 2021, he moved to Livorno for love and began composing his first songs in Italian. He met Bobo Rondelli and played a few songs with him in three concerts. In Livorno, he also had the opportunity to share his music with many artists. He has now formed a group called Viento del Sur with Filippo Ceccarini on trumpet and Alessandro Conforti on percussion, with whom he plays different styles of music such as reggae, bossa nova, samba, candombe, salsa and flamenco. An album of original songs will soon be released thanks to the help of Giacomo Vaccai. This album brings together everything he has learned musically during this time.
