DJ Medet Çelik is a professional DJ and music producer based in Bodrum, Turkey, performing since 2008.
He does not simply play a song list, he manages the night. Every set is built live around the energy of the room, the venue and the moment, taking guests from a relaxed welcome through to a full dance floor.
Styles and genres
House, deep house, ethnic and organic electronic, commercial and pop, dance, R&B, Latin and classic party anthems. Sets are tailored to each event, from elegant background music during dinner and drinks to a high energy club style finish.
Events
Weddings and destination weddings, villa parties, yacht and boat parties, hotel and beach club events, corporate events and launch parties, private birthdays and anniversaries.
Experience
Resident and guest performances at leading venues and hotels including Marina Yacht Club Bodrum, Hakkasan, Soho House, Rixos Hotels and Mandarin Oriental, plus regular radio DJ sets for a national station. Founder of MDC Production, an independent music production company established in 2013, releasing original tracks and remixes.
Full production available
Beyond the DJ performance, a complete technical package can be provided: professional sound systems with delivery, setup and operation, lighting design, DJ booth, and wireless microphones for speeches and ceremonies. One supplier can therefore cover music, sound and lighting for the entire event.
Languages
Fluent in Turkish and English, so international clients are looked after throughout the planning process and on the night itself.
Available in Bodrum, throughout Turkey and internationally.
For a DJ only booking I need a DJ booth or sturdy table of at least 1.5m x 0.8m, a level performance area of roughly 3m x 2m and two standard power sockets, ideally on their own circuit. Access to the venue around two hours before guests arrive is ideal for set up and sound check. When I supply the full sound and lighting package I confirm the exact power and space requirements once I have the venue details.
I need the venue name and full address, a contact for the venue manager, load in access and parking arrangements, whether there are stairs or a lift, whether the performance area is indoors or outdoors, the latest finish time allowed and whether there is a sound limiter or a noise curfew. For open air venues I also need to know what cover is available in case of wind or rain.
Yes. I can perform on a system supplied by the venue or bring a complete professional package including PA system, DJ booth, wireless microphones for speeches and ceremonies, and a lighting rig scaled to the size of the event. Equipment is quoted separately so you only pay for what your venue actually needs.
Yes. I can cover the whole event, not only the main set: welcome and reception music, ceremony music, dinner and speeches, and continuous music between every part of the evening so there is never silence. Requested tracks and playlists can be prepared in advance.
Some of my most memorable nights have been summer residencies in Bodrum, where the crowd changes completely every evening and you have to read the room from the very first record. Performing at Marina Yacht Club Bodrum, Hakkasan and Soho House, and playing weddings for international couples in private villas and on yachts along the coast, are the bookings I am proudest of. My favourite kind of venue is an open air terrace over the sea just as the sun goes down.
Weddings and destination weddings. A wedding is not a single set, it is a whole evening with a shape to it: a calm welcome, the ceremony, dinner and speeches, and then the moment the floor fills and stays full until the last track. Getting that arc right for a couple who have planned it for a year is the most satisfying part of the job.
I started DJing in 2008 in bars and clubs, moved on to resident work in beach clubs and hotels around Bodrum, and from there into private and corporate events. In 2013 I founded MDC Production to release my own tracks and remixes, which also led to radio DJ work. Today I divide my time between weddings, villa and yacht parties, hotel and corporate events in Turkey and abroad, and I supply the sound and lighting production for many of those events as well.
My sound is built on house and melodic electronic music, with a strong Mediterranean and Turkish influence that gives my sets their ethnic character. I also grew up on classic pop, disco and funk, which is where the party side of my sets comes from. For a dance floor that has to work for every age in the room, it is hard to beat Michael Jackson.
I usually arrive around two hours before the first guests for set up and sound check, or earlier when I am supplying the full sound and lighting package. A standard booking is a continuous set of four hours, and for weddings I normally cover the whole evening from welcome drinks through to the last dance, typically six to eight hours. There are no breaks in the music, the flow is continuous, and extra hours can be added on the night if the venue allows it.
Yes, outdoor events are a large part of my work: beach clubs, terraces, gardens, villas and yachts. For an outdoor set up I ask for a flat and stable surface, shade or cover over the booth, and a power supply close to the performance area. For evening events near the sea I also recommend a plan for wind and humidity, and I bring protective covers for the equipment.
The clients always have a say. Before the event I send a short music planning form so you can list must play tracks, artists or styles you love, any songs you definitely do not want, and the specific music for the ceremony, the first dance and any special moments. Beyond those requests I read the room and build the rest of the night live, which is where the difference between a playlist and a DJ shows.
Clients most often describe the night as one that never dropped in energy and a dance floor that stayed full to the end. The other comment I hear regularly is how calm the planning and the technical side felt, because the music, sound and lighting were handled by one person who speaks both Turkish and English.
