Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I keep things simple for event organizers. Ideally, I need a clear, reasonably level performance area, access to a standard electrical outlet and enough room for my sound equipment and props. For larger audiences, a raised stage or platform is preferred so everyone has a good view. I also appreciate having access to the performance area in advance for setup and sound checks.

What information do you require about a venue?

I'd like to know the venue address, event schedule, approximate audience size, room layout and where the performance will take place. It's also helpful to know about parking, loading access and the distance from the unloading area to the performance space. If there are any sound restrictions, low ceilings, unusual staging arrangements or other venue limitations, I'd appreciate knowing in advance.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes! I'm largely self-contained and can provide my own professional sound system, microphones and performance equipment. I bring what I need to deliver a polished show without relying on the venue's technical setup. Lighting requirements are generally minimal, although suitable stage lighting is always appreciated for larger performances.

How much space do you need to perform?

Ideally, a performance area of approximately 12 feet wide by 8 feet deep is sufficient for most shows. For larger productions and bigger audiences, a space of 16-20 feet wide by 12 feet deep is preferable. I can also adapt to smaller spaces when necessary, provided there is adequate room for the performance and audience visibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

After 50 years and more than 10,000 performances, picking just one is almost impossible! Some of my most memorable experiences have been performing for television audiences, entertaining at major corporate events and spending 20 years at Deerhurst Resort, including 10 years as the featured entertainer for their sold-out Family New Year’s Eve Gala. I’ve performed in venues ranging from intimate private rooms to audiences of 1,000. What makes a gig truly special, though, isn’t necessarily the venue or the size of the audience – it’s that moment when an entire room is laughing, participating and having an absolutely wonderful time.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love events where people are ready to have fun! Corporate celebrations, Christmas parties, private functions and milestone celebrations are all favourites. I particularly enjoy performing for adult audiences because I can mix comedy, magic, mind reading and audience participation into a show that brings everyone together. I also have a real soft spot for family audiences. Ultimately, my favourite event is one where the guests leave saying, “That was fantastic!”

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I’ve been a professional magician and entertainer for 50 years, with more than 10,000 paid performances along the way. What started as a fascination with magic grew into a full-time career that has taken me from restaurants and resorts to theatres, corporate stages and television studios. My television experience includes 12 television shows of my own and approximately 250 talk-show appearances. I’ve entertained audiences across Canada and internationally, working with organizations including CBC and CTV. After five decades, I still get the same kick out of making people laugh and showing them something they simply can’t explain.

What makes you different from others offering something similar?

It’s the combination of experience, comedy and audience connection. I’m not simply a magician who performs tricks – I’m an entertainer who knows how to make an entire room feel involved. My show combines laugh-out-loud comedy, astonishing magic, mind reading and interactive surprises, all delivered with a clean, good-natured sense of humour. Nobody is embarrassed, nobody is made to look foolish, and everyone gets to enjoy the fun. With 50 years of professional experience and over 10,000 performances, I know how to read a room, adapt to an audience and deliver an entertaining experience. I like to think of myself as Canada’s Clean Comedy Conjuror – Comedy Magic, Serious Fun!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I generally arrive 60–90 minutes before showtime, depending on the venue and technical requirements. This allows plenty of time to set up, test the sound and make sure everything is ready. Performance times are flexible, ranging from a fast-paced 30-minute show to a full 50–60-minute feature performance. I can also accommodate special event schedules and programming requirements.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! Outdoor performances can be great fun, provided there's a suitable performance area. I require a reasonably flat, level surface, protection from direct sunlight or rain, and access to electrical power if my sound system is required. A shaded or covered performance area is ideal. Wind, extreme temperatures and direct sunlight can affect certain magic effects, so a little advance planning helps ensure the best possible show.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Funny, engaging, interactive and thoroughly entertaining! Clients often appreciate the combination of laugh-out-loud comedy, astonishing magic and mind reading. I'm frequently told how much people enjoyed being part of the show and how refreshing it was to have entertainment that appeals to everyone without embarrassing or singling anyone out. My goal is always to leave an audience laughing, amazed and talking about the experience afterwards.

Can what you offer be tailored to the event or the audience?

Absolutely. That's one of the advantages of having 50 years of professional experience. I tailor the material, humour, pacing and audience interaction to suit the occasion and the people in the room. Whether it's a corporate Christmas party, wedding, private celebration, family event or seniors' gathering, the show can be adapted to fit. I offer comedy magic, mind reading, audience participation and interactive game-show-style entertainment, with the right blend of each depending on the event. No two audiences are exactly alike, and I like to make sure every performance feels that way.
