About / Biography

As an international and renowned saxophonist, arranger and composer, Rainer Pusch’s spectrum ranges from a jazz background obtained during his studies with George Coleman, Jerry Bergonzi, and his studies at the Berklee College of Music (Boston) to various performances with jazz, funk, latin and pop bands over the years. He worked beneath many others with Art Farmer, Pony Poindexter, Albert & Emil Mangelsdorff, Marion Brown, Mario Stantchev.
The Rainer Pusch Quartet is playing in the tradition of the Modern Jazz, Hard Bop. The musical material is based on standards and original compostions, documented on 4 CDs under his name. („Journey Agent“, „Rainer Pusch Trio meets Horace Parlan“, „In Between hose Changes“, „The Beginning and the End“)
The different rhythm sections over the years included names like Horace Parlan, John Betsch, Doug Hammond, Ranjid Barrot, Sanjay Divecha, Karl Peters and many others.
In the moment Rainer Pusch is preparing his new CD „The Temple of the Moment“ with his quartet based on his own compositions, which will be out this summer.
