Katie is a passionate musician with over 20 years performing experience as a soloist and in various groups. She started her music career at primary school where she progressed from recorder to clarinet and finally found the saxophone as a teenager at high school. It was clear that this was her passion and she fell in love with all the music that the sax is so famous for. Katie played classically to start with but then through an influential teacher she learned about jazz and blues and learnt how to improvise. Katie eventually went to to study music at degree level and has enjoyed a wonderful music career of teaching and performing both nationally and internationally. Katie can provide subtle background jazz music for a drinks reception or can play more upbeat music ranging from soul to Ibiza style music. When she is not performing she can be found rehearsing with her Sax quartet, soul band or 17 piece swing band!

If I am using my own PA I will just need a power source and if I'm outside I'll need shelter.
I need to know any directions that will help me find the venue and find the right place to load in the equipment. I would also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue. If an event planner is being used, it would be great to have that persons details too.
I provide sound only using my small speaker system which is suitable for upto 150 guests
I usually provide a spotify playlist inbetween sets if I am doing 2 sets
One of the best gigs I ever did was in a Cave in Derbyshire with a ska band! I guess this was one of the best venues too although I loved playing for a proposal on the cliff tops of Spain looking down on the Mediterranean Sea.
I love playing for weddings and parties. I always feel very privileged to play as part of a wedding ceremony as I know this is a moment the couple will always remember and although I often feel nervous it always goes well and feels very special.
I have played with numerous bands from Jazz to Ska but I guess I started to play solo sax when it became popular around 8 years ago. Playing solo fits well with family life as I can rehearse at home whenever I want!
I love so many but I guess my biggest influence has been from Soul music, I adore Aretha Franklin and music of that era. I am a huge Stevie Wonder fan and Nile Rogers and Chic.
45 minute to set up and performance times either 1 hour or 2 x 45 minutes but I am flexible to suit the client.
Absolutely but in summer it is essential that I have shade and a power supply as close as possible to the performing area. If it rains we would need to move inside as equipment cannot get wet.
Absolutely, I can learn specific songs but in general no more than 5 new ones for a gig.
