Shweta Subram is a Canadian-Indian Bollywood playback singer, recording artist and dynamic live performer whose distinctive voice has travelled from Bollywood and international stages to one of the world's biggest viral music phenomena.
A Canadian citizen and Indo-Canadian artist, she seamlessly bridges Bollywood, Indian classical influences and contemporary global sounds, making her a sought-after vocalist for concerts, luxury events, weddings, corporate entertainment and international productions.
Shweta made her Bollywood playback debut with “Dil-e-Nadaan” alongside Ayushmann Khurrana for the film Hawaizaada. She subsequently entered the Tamil film industry with “Mella Mella” for Maayavan, composed by Ghibran, and has contributed vocals to film and television projects including the Sunny Leone documentary Mostly Sunny.
But it was her unmistakable voice on the viral global hit “Jalebi Baby” by Tesher, later featuring Jason Derulo, that introduced Shweta's vocals to a worldwide mainstream audience. The song became a global pop-culture phenomenon, with the Jason Derulo remix video surpassling 350 million views, and was subsequently featured in Marvel's Ms. Marvel on Disney+.
Shweta's international musical collaborations extend well beyond Bollywood. She collaborated with The Piano Guys on the Indian adaptation “Khushnuma” of Swedish House Mafia's Don't You Worry Child, co-writing the Hindi lyrics and recording vocals with the group. The music video has accumulated more than 22 million views.
Her impressive live career includes performing at the IIFA Awards alongside Salim–Sulaiman, appearing on major international stages, and becoming the youngest vocalist of Indian origin to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also performed for distinguished diplomatic and global audiences, including singing the Indian and Canadian national anthems at a reception for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Canada.
In Dubai, Shweta has performed at major cultural and international platforms, including Expo 2020 Dubai, where she represented the Indian music community on the global Expo stage. She has also performed across the Middle East, North America, India, Asia and the Caribbean.
One of Shweta's greatest strengths is her versatility across languages and musical styles. She performs fluently across Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, English and other Indian languages, with a repertoire spanning contemporary Bollywood, Indian pop, romantic ballads, ghazals, retro classics, Punjabi hits, South Indian music and high-energy dance anthems.
Her repertoire and vocal style allow her to move effortlessly from an intimate acoustic performance to a full-scale Bollywood concert, making her particularly suited to luxury weddings, destination weddings, sangeets, corporate galas, private celebrations, festivals and international cultural events.
Shweta's career has been recognized with several prestigious honours, including:
