BIOGRAPHY

Sofia is a highly acclaimed soprano with a repertoire ranging from the baroque era to more contemporary styles. Described as a 'superb singer-actress' (Opera Today 2022), her operatic performances are said to have "sizzled and enticed" (GScene 2020) and her voice has been described as "incredible and mesmerising" (Oxford Events Office). Alongside her operatic work, she plays piano regularly at the Dorchester Hotel, at the Savoy and at the OSO Arts Centre. She has performed regularly in Florence's Four Seasons Hotel, Cardiff's Marriott Hotel and Oxford's Sandy's Piano Bar.

Now based in London, Sofia has performed around the World. She is an Anglo-Venezuelan singer and pianist. After spending most of her teenage years in France, she moved to the UK to study music at Oxford. She then went on to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to do a vocal Masters and will be joining the Royal College of Music's Opera School in September. Since she started playing the piano, she always adored writing personalised songs and has been keeping that up in parallel to her opera singing. At University, she committed more seriously to the piano bar scene, and since then, she has been doing her own arrangements of jazz, pop, folk and rock songs in venues around the World (London, Florence, Cardiff, New York, etc.).

At home in a diverse stylistic range of music spanning Renaissance to contemporary repertoire, she has premiered roles in operas by Marco Galvani (Autopilot Saves Model S) and Toby Young (Witch!). Other operatic roles have included Adina (Elixir of Love), Papagena (Magic Flute), Fire (Enfant et les Sortilèges), Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld). A seasoned choral musician, Sofia has performed with groups including Genesis Sixteen, St John’s College Chapel Choir, Schola Cantorum, and the BBC National Chorus of Wales. Her concert appearances have included Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, Handel’s Messiah, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Finzi’s In Terra Pax, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 and Vivaldi's Gloria.
