About / Biography

Tonema [To-nè-ma] is an acoustic pop cover project formed by three guys from the province of Florence. They combine their study of their instruments and their decades of live experience to give life to a new pop project: a journey through the best years of the great classics of the genre, but also through that wholesome rock of the 90s and 2000s that still influences everyday music!

The band consists of 3 members: vocals and guitar, electric bass, cajón and percussion.

Tonema is based in Florence but operates throughout the entire Tuscany region and beyond. The setlist can be customised according to taste and requirements, with a wide variety of pieces from the band's repertoire to choose from.

Musical genres: Pop - Rock - Alternative - Soul - R&B

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We don't need much to get the party started! Our basic requirements are a flat space to play, two power sockets, and two stools or chairs. Regarding audio, we need a standard PA system (2 speakers with stands, 1 monitor speaker, and a mixer with at least 4 inputs).

Don't have a sound system on-site? No problem! We can provide all the necessary gear for a small additional fee.

What information do you require about a venue?

We want to make sure your event is stress-free, so we typically ask for a few details regarding the venue.
We need to know how to reach the location and the best way to load in our equipment.
It’s also important for us to know if the performance area is indoors or outdoors (and if it's outside, whether there is a covered area).
Finally, having access to a small room or a private space to change and keep our belongings safe is always a big help!

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

If the venue isn't equipped, we can bring our own full sound system for a small extra charge. This ensures high-quality audio tailored to our performance, so you won't have to worry about a thing!
If you also need basic stage lighting to set the mood, just let us know and we can discuss the best setup for your event.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to provide a Spotify music service before, after, and between our sets to keep the atmosphere going. We can curate a playlist ourselves or, if you prefer, we can play your own selection to perfectly match the mood of your event.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

As a trio, we are currently performing concerts throughout our region. Every stage is equally important to us, and the best gig is still yet to come.

What's your favourite type of event?

We enjoy playing at all kinds of events, but aperitifs, receivings and weddings are our favorites!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We come from several years of individual experience and distinct musical careers, individually but also in band. We have known each other as friends and colleagues for some time and we have decided to create a project together with a energetic musical impact despite the lightness of an acoustic trio.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We come from different backgrounds but pop is what unites us: we are very inspired by artists like Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth and the most influential of this genre of music.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We usually talk with the people involved to agree on the arrival time for soundcheck. We also usually agree on the duration of the event and setlist with the organizers, for a set that can be up to two hours of music, with attached breaks if necessary.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! We’re happy to play outside as long as there’s a level spot for us to set up and a power source nearby. Since we use professional gear, a shaded or covered area is always appreciated to keep the equipment safe from the elements.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We have a vast repertoire to choose from, and we’re happy to tailor our setlist to match the vibe of your event. If you have any special requests, we can also learn up to 3 specific songs just for you (just let us know in advance!)

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Our clients frequently highlight the quality of our sound and our unique song choices. We’re known for delivering a fresh, non-cliché setlist that stands out from the standard repertoire, making every event feel personal and special.

Do you have a specific stage outfit, or can we request a certain look?

Absolutely! We can tailor our outfits to match the formality of your event. From elegant suits to a more casual summer look, we’ll make sure our attire is appropriate for the occasion and your preferences.
