Il nostro progetto musicale affonda le sue radici nella conservazione e riscoperta del patrimonio culturale immateriale del Friuli. Il nome stesso, Bràul, evokes a legendary demonic figure from the traditions of Carnia, said to guard a mysterious pot of gold coins buried among the ruins of an ancient castle. This symbol perfectly embodies the spirit of our work: uncovering hidden cultural treasures and bringing them back to the community in a renewed form.

Our musical project has its roots in the preservation and rediscovery of Friuli’s intangible cultural heritage. The name itself, Bràul, evokes a legendary demonic figure from the traditions of Carnia, said to guard a mysterious pot of gold coins buried amongst the ruins of an ancient castle. This symbol perfectly embodies the spirit of our work: uncovering hidden cultural treasures and bringing them back to the community in a renewed form.
Our artistic approach combines an original and philologically grounded reinterpretation of traditional folk songs with the creation of new and entirely original compositions.
The sound of our concerts is based on a highly distinctive blend of timbres. Traditional musical instruments are combined with instrumental elements drawn from other geographical regions and musical cultures. This dialogue between the local and the universal creates a contemporary soundscape, designed to highlight the qualities of the six musicians who make up the group.
As evidence of the continuity of our research and the group’s artistic development, we have released four recordings, which have been met with considerable appreciation from the public, as well as widespread acclaim from specialist music magazines and publications.
Throughout our career, we have built up an extensive programme of live performances, taking part in prestigious folk music festivals and concert series both in Italy and abroad. This international dimension reflects the strength and maturity of the project, as well as its ability to take Friulian musical culture beyond the region’s borders.
= areas covered (up to 1160 miles)Our repertoire consists of a selection of our own original compositions and traditional music from the Friuli region, rather than commercial cover songs or classical suites. For this reason, a standard tracklist would not provide useful reference before the event. However, we will provide the sound engineer with a complete printed setlist—including exact song titles and durations—on the day of the show for technical coordination.
Stage & Technical Requirements. We need:
Stage Dimensions: Minimum 8m x 5m performance area.
• Accordion: 2x microphones (or matching dual-mic system).
• Percussion: 3x microphones.
• Vocals: 3x vocal microphones.
• String Instruments & Electric Bass: 4x D.I. Boxes (Direct Injection).
• Violin: 1x microphone channel with +48V Phantom Power.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Regarding the technical equipment, we are unfortunately not self-contained for this event. While we can provide our own gear for local shows, we require a full PA system and a simple lighting rig for all our concerts outside of our home region (Friuli Venezia Giulia).
We cannot provide a Spotify or DJ service for this event. Since this show is outside of our home region (Friuli Venezia Giulia), we will not have our own sound engineer with us. Therefore, we expect the venue’s local sound technician to manage the background music before and between our sets.
We performed at FIMU in Belfort, France. It was amazing to see so many people and musicians from all over the world follow our music with such interest and joy, clapping along to the rhythm, while a French radio station was simultaneously broadcasting the concert live.
Our preferred types of events are folk festivals, folk music concert series, and concert presentations in theatres or auditoriums. We perform best in venues that appreciate cultural and progressive music.
As a group, we have a long and solid history, having started performing live together back in 1993, so we are definitely experienced musicians. While our six members all have different musical backgrounds—our founder, for instance, started playing live at just 9 years old—as a band, we have decades of experience sharing our music on important stages, folk festivals, and cultural events both in Italy and abroad.
With six musicians in the band, our influences form a rich and diverse mosaic. Our background is shaped by legends of progressive and folk rock like Malicorne, Alan Stivell, Blowzabella, Gwerz, Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, and Manus Lunny, alongside classical composers like Beethoven, Schönberg, Liszt, and Bartók, acoustic guitar virtuosos like Tommy Emmanuel, and world music artists such as Enya or Värttinä.
It is impossible for us to pick just one favorite artist or a single 'best song of all time,' as our personal answers range from Jethro Tull's 'Aqualung' and Fabrizio De André's masterpieces to traditional folk tunes and classical suites. This blend of different musical souls is exactly what defines our unique progressive folk sound.
We usually arrive 4 hours before the performance to set up everything and finish our soundcheck one hour before the show. Generally, we perform either a single 80-minute set or two 45-minute sets. While we could play slightly longer or shorter, we have found that these durations are the absolute best fit for both the band and our audience.
We are happy to perform outdoors, provided that the performance area is flat, fully covered/shaded, and equipped with two dedicated power outlets close to the stage. Additionally, 3 chairs without armrests are essential for our performance.
Our setlist is normally predetermined, but we are highly flexible and happy to accommodate the artistic director's preferences. The client can either choose a custom setlist from our full repertoire or trust us to select the best music for the event. Additionally, we are more than welcome to include 4 or 5 specific tracks if requested.
Past clients and artistic directors most commonly describe us as a project focused on deep musical research and modern innovation. They deeply appreciate how we rescue lost or nearly forgotten traditional themes, reimagining them with a contemporary vision and shaping a futuristic approach to music right now.
Yes, we are fully available for radio, television, or press interviews to help promote the event, both in the weeks leading up to the festival and on the day of the show.
