We are a colourful London based marimba band playing energetic, joyful music from Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe, including folk songs, original songs and popular southern African covers. The band's set-up includes soprano, tenor and baritone marimbas, drumming, percussion and singing, with both traditional and contemporary dances. The marimba band’s sound is full of energy and pulsating rhythms - and the band’s music shares the rich cultures, histories and stories of the people of southern Africa.
Alongside a number of private events and weddings, performance highlights from the summer before the pandemic hit include Late Bloom Festival, Kallida Festival, Timber International Forest Festival, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, African Somerset Feast’ival, Africa At Spitalfields, Global Beats Club and Focus Africa at Pop Brixton.
We are a unique and colourful experience and the only active professional marimba band of our kind in the UK - and possibly in all of Europe.
