Janjala Dking – Afrobeat Artist with a Rich Musical Journey
Benjamin Batuns, known on stage as IamJanjala Benebee Dking, is a dynamic Afrobeat artist with deep roots in Nigerian music culture. Born and raised in Nigeria, Janjala’s passion for music began early, starting in his local church choir. This foundation paved the way for his journey through Nigeria’s vibrant music scene, where he performed alongside iconic musicians such as Admiral Dele Abiodun, the late Ade Olusayo, Segun Adewale, and eventually joined the legendary King Sunny Ade’s (KSA) band.
In 1997, Janjala formed his own group, Benebee and The African Boys, before joining KSA’s band in 2000. After an enriching six years with KSA, Janjala relocated to the UK, where he continued to expand his career as a session musician.
Drawing inspiration from Afrobeat pioneers like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Lagbaja, Janjala blends traditional rhythms with modern sounds, creating a unique and engaging Afrobeat experience.
During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2019, Janjala reignited his solo ambitions, captivating audiences through powerful live-stream performances that inspired him to organize successful live shows. Since 2022, Janjala has consistently delivered memorable performances and released multiple EPs.
JanjalaDking is poised to make an even greater impact, continuing his mission to spread powerful energy to the world.

I am a musician right from the younger age. My team was a created after a longtime together with different teams. During the "COVID-19 lockdown" I was during live streaming, and people fell in love with my style of music, now making some request of a real live show. And this is how we started the band since then, and we have played very much around uk hopping to do more.

We always like to arrive the venue at least 2 hours before the show, and set up can take between 2hrs to 3hrs
