About / Biography

I began my professional piping career after 2020 when the world shut down as a hobby to "pass" the extra time I had inside at during this period as many other people during this time had done so. I found out that I absolutely loved this instrument and had a great passion to learn the "Great Pipes". During this time, I also played the bass drum as well when I was learning the Great Highland Bagpipes and still play it on occasion to this day. After taking professional lessons and tuition on this endeavor, I have since then grown my skillset even further by playing in two pipe and drum bands with multiple forms of musical instruction in the technical styles of piping. I myself have been fortunate enough to perform alongside on stage with the likes of the "Red Hot Chili Pipers" and the "Piano Guys" which has further inspired my piping style and direction leading up to this point. My dress consists of a variety of styles and types with my main area of specialization being in historical military uniform and dress. I can appear in different styles of historical military uniform from Boer War, WWI, WWII, and modern day. I also like to coincide my historical reenacting with my musical piping abilities as historically the "Great Pipes" were played into battle which provides a very informative history lesson with it. Although I can appear in other forms of dress too from standard waistcoat and tie to full dress. If there is something specific that you would like me to wear, I would be more than happy to accommodate your request. My repertoire consists of many different tune selections and types with new tunes being added regularly. If there is a specific tune request that you have for your special event, I would be more than happy to accommodate your request. In the case I would not know the tune you would request, I would be very eager to learn this new tune request with advanced notice (depending on difficulty and technicality as these will take much longer to learn) as I do not know every single tune out of thousands that exist; I am always looking to add to my repertoire. I available to play for all forms of events from weddings, funerals, birthdays, ceremonies, etc. to make your event even more special. And if you have any questions or requests about my services, I would be delighted to discuss them with you.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

There is no need for amplification or any other system as the bagpipes are very loud and projecting with sound.

What information do you require about a venue?

When playing at a venue, I only need to know the directions to it and the general area I will be playing in if it is inside or outside. This helps me better prepare myself for when I arrive.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

No since the bagpipes do not require sound or lighting equipment since they are very loud and can be played anywhere.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Bagpipes usually do not use these kind of music services as the music comes from the instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

The best gig I have ever worked at was at the Hershey Theater in Hershey, PA on two separate occasions within the same year. The first one I played with the Red Hot Chili Pipers, and the second one was with the Piano Guys. Both phenomenal groups of musicians that had great backstories and ideas of what music is. We were fortunate enough to play in front of a few thousand people which was the most I have ever played for. If I could do it again I would.

What's your favourite type of event?

My personal favorite type of event to play at is for weddings. These kind of events help celebrate and bring together people on the happiest days of their lives.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

My previous experience came from a fellow piper in my band who did this similar thing by gigging. Once I got proficient on the pipes, he referred me to funerals that he couldn’t do since he was so booked. And the rest is history.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The one pipe composer that has been most influential to me as a piper is a piper named G.S McClennan. He is considered to be one of the best pipers that have ever lived and with how he composed his pipe music along with how he played, it inspires me to be able to play pipes like him. My favorite tune has to be the 6/8 jig called The Jig of Slurs by G.S McClennan.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Generally I like to arrive early to an event and tune myself before hand to make sure all sounds good. If need be, I will tune myself somewhere else before I come to the event.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I am always happy to perform outside.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes absolutely. I always try to best accommodate my clients needs for their event. If a client would like to request a specific time, I am happy to learn it with advanced notice as learning new tunes adds to my expansive repertoire.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

From past performances and experience with clients, they were always impressed with how much knowledge I have about tunes and the pipes as they have much historical meaning and background to them. They are always impressed how well I am able to play the pipes because as of this moment I have been only playing a few years and the pipes are one of the hardest instruments to learn.
