I'm Al Skinner, a corporate magician and mentalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. For 15 years I have been the entertainment at company holiday parties, conferences and sales meetings across Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Sacramento. Over 100 corporate events, for companies including Genentech, State Farm, Sutter Health, Vision Service Plan and Carnival.

Here is what actually happens on the night.

I step in front of your guests, and within about five minutes the whole room is laughing together, including the three people who arrived determined not to enjoy themselves. Somebody's mind gets read. Something goes up in flames. By the end there is a guest up there with me and the entire room is on their side.

Long after the event, nobody remembers the food or the decorations. What they remember is whether they had a good time. That is the whole job.

The show is completely clean. That matters when the room is mixed and the boss is in it.

There are two ways this works, and they feel completely different. I can move table to table doing close up magic right under people's noses, which is the thing guests are still talking about at breakfast. Or I can do a seated show, everyone facing one way, big reactions all at once. Plenty of evenings have room for both.
