A standard electrical outlet within 20' of performance area. Space requirements: Duo, about 12'x8'; Trio about 16'x8'; Quartet about 20x10.' Free secure parking: one space for duo; 2-3 spaces for trio or larger band. Ramp or elevator -- no stairs. For most outdoor shows we require protection for sun or rain. For 90% of engagements, we supply PA system and simple lighting.
Any info not provided by GPS navigation; gate codes; load-in details; parking details.
We provide a compact pro-quality PA system and some simple lighting. For larger engagements extra PA and lighting may be required.
We are prepared to provide recorded music to fit the theme before performance and during any band breaks. We can play client's preferred music if supplied on thumb drive or CD.
In 30+ years of performing, we've had so many wonderful engagements and audiences that it's impossible to pick a "best."
Some of our plum gigs: repeat performances or long-term engagements at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando; daily at the Florida State Fair (9 years); South Florida Fair (3 years); multiple days annually (15+ years) at the Iron Horse Saloon in Daytona during Bike Week and Biketoberfest. We've had repeat multi-day performances at Cypress Gardens, Silver Springs, The Villages, Busch Gardens Tampa, and at many, many corporate affairs, community events and festivals, weddings, church picnics, reunions, and house parties. As performers, we love doing what we do, wherever we may be. We're easy to work with, and we don't take ourselves too seriously. We like to joke around and help everyone have a good time.
In recent years, we've begun playing Assisted Living communities. They're great: the performance time is usually just one hour, and the audiences sing along and applaud!
I grew up in North Arkansas, an area rich in folk music heritage, during the 1960s. I began performing onstage for audiences at the weekly 'hootenanny' when I was 15 -- nearly 60 years ago. Sara and I have been performing together for over 20 years.
My biggest influence and favorite musician is Bob Dylan, but he's just one among many influences. Out of around 300 songs in our repertoire, we can (when asked) choose from about 20 Dylan songs.
For most shows and venues, it takes us 30-40 minutes to load in and set up. So we plan to arrive at least an hour before downbeat. For a one-hour show we don't need any sort of break; for 2-hours we may want one 15-minute intermission, but we rarely do that. For a 3-hr engagement, we need two 15-minute breaks.
Sure, as long as we're protected from sun and rain and have a clean, level, and dry area to set up on. When temperatures are high, we'll require more breaks.
Given sufficient advance notice (usually at least a couple weeks), we're happy to learn a new song or two if the genre is something similar to what we do already. We're always open to requests, but we're limited to the 300 or so songs we know. General requests -- a specific artist or specific decade -- are more likely to be successful.
I'd be glad to email you many reviews. Most common feedback seems to be that people like our friendly personalities, our willingness to accommodate their wishes, and our professionalism.
