“I remember sneaking into my brother’s room and trying to play his Guitar.."
Cary Simms first noted his love for the saxophone as a youth in Oakland, California where he was born. Cary spent much of his early teen years in California where his father, who was a local musician that played for many local area Churches as a Pianist, introduced him to the gospel scene. Cary’s young life influenced by the Bay Area music scene of varying styles ranging from Gospel, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, started developing his ear for melodies by spending hours listening to all types of music. Later He and his family, relocated to the Pacific Northwest where he continued to pursue his love of music. A child prodigy, Cary’s earlier musical influences were received from Portland, Oregon’s finest and most revered performers and instructors (i.e. John Gross, Dennis Springer, Thara Memory, Janice Scroggins, Ricky Callier).
Cary accepted his call to minister to people the world over via music, wherein 2002, he released his first CD entitled "Intimated Thoughts", Which featured Bassist Nathan East of the group "FOUR PLAY", and Bassist Danny Wilson former bassist of the "Jeff lober Band" and some of Portland, Or. greatest talent as well as partnered with fellow musicians and artists to produce several local Studio recording and live performance projects.
His first of many CD’s was Produced by Rick Callier and Cary Simms, Mixed by Tim Greenidge and Cary Simms and mastered by Rick E. at Supper digital in Portland, Or.
Cary Simms Isn’t afraid to step out on what he knows, regardless of not having any major funding from the "major or minor" record companies. We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
