Some arrangements of Popular Tunes work well with quartets, a little less well with trios, and sometimes fine with duos or solos - TBD

Command Performance with my String Quartet plus Guest Artist, Yo-Yo Ma. Isabell Gardener Museum.
Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory of Music - command performance with Jazz Great, Fred Hersch; Numerous Private Events.


What's your favourite type of event?

Community Concerts in interesting venues, House Concerts, Classical Jams... Weddings.


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

40+ Years of Professional work - starting at age 17, when I joined the Musicians' Union to play in the San Jose Symphony, Theater Work, Ad Hoc Quartet Gigs, Studio Sessions.... Instigated by Musician Friends, to start.


Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Wow! Influences, Beatles, my Cello Teachers, Mom.... Favorite Artists = Yo-Yo Ma, Jacob Collier, Beatles, Väsen, Coleman Itzkoff, ....

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

One Hour, basically .. If a SOUND Check is required, 90 minutes.


Are you happy to perform outside?

Depends. Requirements include Shade, temperature considerations.... Plenty of space and light.


Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can be negotiable. We will supply our ready library list to start, but can accommodate most requests, if practical.


How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Beautiful, Appropriate, Classy, Stirring, Really Adding Emotional impact to the Event (Weddings, Memorials, especially)...


What is your particular strength as a musician?

I (and by extension, my colleagues in the "Fellowship of the Strings") am very versed in the forms of ceremonial events, such as weddings, memorials, religious services, .... I have extensive Studio Experience and can add string arrangements to original (or cover) songs almost on the fly, depending on the complexity of the material. I have collaborated with many stripes of musicians, from scholarly Classical players, to rustic Folkies, to sophisticated singer/song-writers to sound healers, and happy to improvise under favorable conditions. I have an affinity for Early Music in particular and always prefer Unplugged Events.
