Crook & Company is an eclectic pop & soul-driven ensemble based in Milwaukee, WI. Founded in 2021 by tenured vocalist Arron Crook & later co-led by distinguished guitarist Nate Scheurell, the group has grown from primarily playing jazz standards into what they are now best known for. With a blend of punchy throwback covers & soulful original music, Crook & Company has carved out their own space within the Milwaukee music scene.
Crook & Company is a professional, highly adaptable group that bridges the gap between sophisticated jazz lounge vibes and high-energy party music. With hundreds of exceptional events under their belt, they’ve played on some of Milwaukee’s biggest stages like multiple Summerfest stages, Turner Hall & The Marcus Center to name a few. With a flexible band configuration, they can keep it intimate with piano & guitar vocal duo sets, or up the ante with a full band for headliner shows. Specific events/venues may require additional accommodations but we request that sufficient power is available near our set up location, and ample accessibility to get our equipment from our vehicles to the performance location. We typically request a 10x10 performance space, with ample power accessibility & parking.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.
Certainly the biggest event was playing for the Bucks team at the Fiserv Forum here in Milwaukee, WI & opened for the Fray. Some honorable mentions include Turner Hall, the Marcus Theater Stage, and Summerfest stages.
We love events from public to private, groovy to intimate and everything/everywhere in-between. We do however gravitate towards the super groovy & speakeasy places with crowds that love to hang out with us!
Most of the band has been pursuing music to varying degrees, and have formed after connecting in different places here in Milwaukee! We're all friends off and on the clock, which is certainly apparent when on stage!
We all have different origins and influences which when melded together for a show, makes our sound super dynamic!
Depending on the event and size of band requested, setup is between 30 minutes (Solo/Duo Option) and up to 60 minutes (Full Band/All Equipment). Performance time is typically a minimum of 1 Hour and really no limit to play times. (Breaks included on rotation)
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 3 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them. We're professional "room readers" and can get people moving, grooving or keeping it low-key depending on what you need.
We have a ton of reviews online, but most would say we're a perfect mix of soul, jazz & R&B!
Yes! often times we will combine 2 band configurations (such as 1 hour Jazz Duo + 3 hour Jazz Quartet or 2 hour instrument solo + 2 hour Jazz Trio) depending on your vision & budget.
As far as you need! Travel costs are included in our options within 100 miles of our home base in Milwaukee, WI. Feel free to inquire further for destination weddings or events.
We accept most any method of payment, but our most common payment method is through Booklive or check. Booklive is a secure portal that handles all things music for your event.
We’re a Jazz Band first & foremost, but we often branch out to other genres including Pop, R&B, Blues and even a touch of country depending on the event!
A dry, clean & level space to play! Outside events require covering & we cannot play in adverse or extreme weather unless we are protected from the elements. Food also keeps us moving throughout the night!
Yes we do! We handle all things sound and can even hook you up with wireless mics so your speeches & vows can be heard. We also have some mobile sound capabilities so even if your event does not have access to power, we will still be able to play!
Yes! With ample time to learn songs, we can add up to 3 songs free of charge. You can also pick from our extensive library with over 100 songs! During our consultation call, we help to curate the setlist to fit your vision and will advise on any musical questions or concerns as we go throughout the planning process!
