About / Biography

Hello there!
I’ve been playing music for the past 15 years throughout the Pacific Northwest. I offer live music for any type of venue or event. My genre covers Pop/Soul/R&B/Alternative/Folk/Soft Rock/Christian. Whether you need music for a wedding, private event, corporate event, restaurant, fair, festival, Sunday worship, or church event; I’ve performed at all these venues. Some of my favorite experiences include: Performing on American Idol, playing a show at the Les Schwab Amphitheater, jammin' with Allen Stone, and getting to meet awesome people all along the way who share an appreciation for music. I’m more than happy to meet in the middle, and make your event memorable and well worthwhile.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

My favorite show was when I performed at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon. It was the largest attended concert of the summer.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love playing all sorts of events. I enjoy weddings, private parties, private shows, and fairs. Weddings are pretty special though!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started gigging back in 2011, right when I started attending college. I played music around the Pacific Northwest for around 13 years.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Some of my favorite inspirations musically include: Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Journey, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Al Green, Bill Withers, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Allen Stone, Martin Sexton, The Beatles, Coldplay, Jason Mraz, and plenty more! I love the genres of Soul, R&B, Folk, Pop, Rock, Alternative, and Christian music.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I normally arrive an hour and a half before the performance to setup. I normally perform 2 x 45 minute sets, 2 x 60 minute sets, or 3 x 50 minute sets. I've played longer and shorter times, I usually just take a 10-15 minute break every hour or so that
I perform.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I'm happy to play outside, but I would ask for shade in summer, and a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes, sometimes people have song requests. I would like to limit requests to 5 songs or so. I do a variety of songs all the way from 60s to modern day, I have a good mixture of songs that I'm sure many would know.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Many comment that I have an amazing soulful voice, very smooth, and impressive vocal control and ability. (Here's the latest review I've received from someone who booked me at Tagaris Winery for a Private party in Richland, WA.)

The Perfect Addition to an Anniversary Celebration
"I was tasked with finding live music for my in-laws 50th anniversary celebration and really didn’t know where to start. I stumbled onto Gigsalad and then found Dakota and am SO thankful that I did; we had such a great experience with him! He was so easy to work with from the beginning, and happy to learn new songs for the party, even on a short notice request. His voice is beautiful and we had several people ask who he was and where we found him, including some very appreciative in-laws. I couldn’t give enough praise; he truly made the party complete and I can’t recommend him enough! If you’ve stumbled across this comment, reach out and book Dakota! You will be just as impressed! Thanks again Dakota!!"
