Danakil Heat is a groovy stoner band from Helsinki formed in 2022. Beyond stoner metal, the band is influenced by a variety of genres, such as garage rock, psychedelic, groove metal, grunge, hardcore and punk. The band’s music is a raw collision of urgency and uplift, where heavy, post-apocalyptic atmospheres meet moments of radiant hope. The band calls their sound “apocalyptic optimism”, a paradox that captures both the unease of a world on the edge and the sparks of resilience that refuse to die out. Lyrically, they draw inspiration from dystopian futures, cosmic imagery, and escapist dreams, reminding listeners that even in the shadow of doomsday, there’s beauty, resistance, and joy to be found. Musically, the band expands their palette with high-energy riffs and doom-tinged textures while keeping their light-hearted spirit intact.
The band is Joonas (drums). Shaun (vocals), Timm (guitar, backing vocals) and Olli (bass).
