David Bailey started to play the guitar at the age of thirteen, inspired by the electric guitar sound of Hank Marvin. Throughout his teenage years, he received further inspiration from a variety of musicians of the 1960’s including the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton.
David later became interested in both folk and classical guitar, inspired by John Williams, Julian Bream, Bert Jansch, John Renbourne and Segovia.
Following study at the Spanish Guitar Centre in London, where David studied under Simon Munting, he received further tuition from Oliver Hunt, professor of guitar at the London College of Music. After four years of intensive study, David Bailey was awarded his Associate of the London College of Music diploma in guitar performance.
In 1990 David attended Dartington College of Arts as a full time music student, graduating after a three year study period. During his time at Dartington, he studied steel string guitar under John Renbourne and Classical guitar under Stephen Gordon.
In addition to giving public performances, David has played at weddings, restaurants, hotels and for a variety of private functions. His repertoire includes Renaissance dances, 19th century guitar compositions, JS Bach, Latin American music, the Beatles, Delta Blues, Ragtime, Easy listening, Soft Rock, Folk and Celtic music.
David Bailey has recently extended his repertoire, branching out into the field of pop music featuring a range of instrumental versions of a variety of hits from the rock’n roll era, through to the 1960s, 70s and 80s with backing tracks. This includes music by The Shadows, Beatles, Rolling Stones and many more.
David teaches guitar privately. He has recorded a CD titled, Utopia, featuring a variety of instrumental guitar styles. Utopia is also one of three tracks which David composed.

I need a chair without arm rests close to a power point plus a parking space.
I would need directions that will help me find the venue and the availability of space close to the entrance for purposes of unloading.
I have my own amplifier plus an I-pod with backing tracks where needed. I do not provide lighting equipment.
I am happy for the client to choose music between my sets.
This is largely not relevant for the music I provide does not generally require that for the music I provide is usually for listening to either in depth or casually rather than dancing to.
The best gigs I have done are private functions.
This varies from private functions to weddings and hotels. Although I enjoy playing at most events.
My previous experience has been gigging at private functions, weddings, corporate events, restaurants and hotels. I started gigging by calling on various adequate premises.
Hank Marvin, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, (electric guitar). Then later on, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch and Ralph Mactell, .(acoustic guitar) Also Segovia, Julian Bream and John Williams (classical guitar). With regards electric guitar in my opinion the greatest tracks of all time are Apache, Sunshine of Your Love, and Stairway to Heaven. On folk guitar the Streets of London. Classical guitar Recuerdos De La Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega.
I normally arrive around an hour before performance time as there is not a lot to set up. I normally perform 2 x 45 minute sets and always happy to play a bit longer and do requests where feasible.
Yes but I would prefer to be in the shade close to a power supply.
As a rule I would stick to the set list, however I am happy to learn specific numbers in advance should clients request them.
Clients always enjoy my performances in a nice and easy relaxed atmosphere.
I am available in most cases, to adapt to the client's requirements.
