Technical requirements are tailored to each event and depend on the ensemble, venue and production format. We can work with anything from an intimate acoustic duo to a full band, DJ + live percussion or a larger custom ensemble. Once the entertainment concept and lineup are confirmed, we provide the appropriate stage, power, sound, backline and microphone requirements and coordinate directly with the client, planner, venue or production team.

We like to understand the venue size and layout, number of guests, indoor or outdoor setting, performance areas, schedule and flow of the event, load-in access, available PA, lighting and backline, and whether there is an in-house production team or sound engineer. Because every event is curated individually, this information helps us design the right ensemble, instrumentation and production setup from the beginning.

Yes. For many local and regional events, we can provide our own professional sound equipment and the microphones and amplification required for the performance. For larger productions, destination events and more complex setups, we coordinate with the venue or local production company and provide detailed sound, backline, staging and technical requirements in advance. Lighting can also be incorporated into the overall production plan.

Yes. We can provide curated background music before, between and after live sets, or integrate a professional DJ into the event. One of our signature formats combines DJ with live percussion, allowing the evening to move naturally from cocktails and dinner into a full dance-floor experience. The music and transitions are planned as part of the overall event rather than treated as a separate add-on.

It is difficult to choose one after more than 30 years of performing. Some career highlights have included major New York stages such as Lincoln Center, Birdland and the Iridium, international festivals, touring throughout the United States and abroad, and extraordinary private events in places such as Jamaica.
What I value most is not necessarily the size of the venue. Some of the most memorable performances have been private events where the music was designed specifically for the setting and we were able to create a genuine connection with the guests. That combination of world-class musicianship and a very personal experience is also at the heart of David Langlois Music.

I love being able to work with a client or planner from the beginning and shape different musical atmospheres throughout the event — perhaps something intimate and acoustic for the arrival, sophisticated jazz during cocktails or dinner, and then a full band or DJ + live percussion when it is time to celebrate.
Festivals and concerts are also very special because they allow the musicians to fully showcase their creativity and virtuosity.

I have more than 30 years of experience as a professional performing, touring and recording musician. I started very young in France playing live music, and over the years my career developed internationally through substantial work in France, New York, Jamaica and Senegal, as well as touring and recording in many other countries.
I have worked inside very different musical worlds: reggae and Caribbean music, West African rhythms, New York and New Orleans jazz, Gypsy Jazz, musette, Parisian waltzes and French chanson.
Over the course of my career I have appeared on more than 20 albums, several DVDs and film scores, and have performed and recorded with musicians from many different cultures and musical traditions.
Those decades of experience are what eventually led to David Langlois Music. Instead of offering only one band or one style, I now use that professional network and musical knowledge to build the right entertainment around each individual event.

My influences come from several musical worlds rather than one single artist. Django Reinhardt and the Gypsy Jazz tradition have been enormously important, as have Bob Marley and the great Jamaican reggae artists, Sidney Bechet and the New Orleans jazz tradition, West African music, and the great French singers and songwriters including Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Charles Aznavour and Serge Gainsbourg.
What connects all of these influences for me is authenticity, music that comes from a real culture, community and history. That is also what I look for when I put musicians together for an event.
I do not really believe there is one “greatest song of all time.” Different music creates different emotions, and finding the right music for the right moment is much more interesting to me.

David Langlois Music is musician-led. David brings more than 30 years of international experience as a performing, touring and recording musician, with substantial work in New York, France, Jamaica and Senegal. Rather than selecting acts from a catalogue, the entertainment is curated through direct knowledge of musicians, musical cultures and how different combinations work together.

Setup and performance times are built around the event and the format selected. An intimate acoustic duo may require only a short setup, while a full band, DJ + live percussion or larger curated ensemble may require a more complete soundcheck and production schedule. We coordinate timing in advance with the client, planner, venue and production team so the entertainment fits naturally into the overall event schedule. Performance formats can range from short featured sets to several musical moments spread throughout an entire evening.

Absolutely. We regularly create entertainment for outdoor receptions, private estates, terraces, rooftops, resorts, beach events, festivals and destination celebrations. The exact setup is adapted to the environment, with appropriate staging, power, sound and protection from rain, strong wind, direct sun and extreme temperatures for the musicians and equipment.

The client is part of the creative process from the beginning. We discuss the atmosphere, musical tastes, important songs, cultural references, guest profile and the different moments of the event, then build the repertoire and ensemble around that vision. Clients can request specific songs or artists, but they can also rely on our experience to curate the music and shape the energy throughout the event.

We can design the musical progression of an event from beginning to end — for example, an acoustic welcome, jazz or Gypsy Jazz for cocktails and dinner, a full live band later in the evening, and DJ + live percussion for the after-party. The musicians, repertoire and atmosphere are selected with the client or planner specifically for each event.
