We are very understanding of the difficulties venues and event organisers have in terms of budgeting due to the current climate. However, like yourselves we are also trying to earn a living. The prices listed have been chosen so that it is accessible to both venues/event organisers and to the members of the band in which the cost is split equally. We are happy to negotiate a little, but do prefer to stick to the listed prices

About / Biography

Divided Compass is an Indie Pop/Rock band formed in 2018 as a duo between current Lead Singer/Songwriter/Producer/Frontman - Joshua Ulysses and Songwriter/Keys/Co-Producer - Louis Moorhouse.
The duo released an EP in 2019 known as “Her” which included 5 tracks written by the two and produced by good friend Singer/Songwriter and Producer - Neil Phillimore!

Fast forward to 2025 and the project has turned into a full five piece indie pop/rock band since 2021. Heralding many line ups over the years with the current being:

  • Josh | Lead Singer/Songwriter/Producer
  • Reuben | Guitarist | Backing Vocals
  • Jude | Guitarist
  • David | Bassist
  • Freddie | Drummer
  • Louis Moorhouse | Keys/Songwriter/Producer

(Louis isn’t currently a regular member of the live band due to proximity to us, but is considered as an official member)

The band influence includes: Bastille/The Wombats/The Smiths/Daft Punk/Fickle Friends and many more notable acts!

The Band has gigged at notable venues such as: The Old Dispensary/The Dublin Castle and Skehans Freehouse
The band currently looks to build a following by taking on regular gigs in and out of London.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A space able to accommodate 4-5 band members. Roughly 5-6 power sockets or extensions that accommodate that amount (Pedals / Mixer / PA etc)

What information do you require about a venue?

Load In and Curfew/Load Out Times would be much appreciated!

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Ideally we’d appreciate any PA be provided to us ay this current moment. We do have a -6 Channel Mixer and Monitor, we’d just need the speakers to use.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes we’re more than happy to play a playlist of songs that reflect our sound and are familiar to the audience!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

The Old Dispensary, Camberwell (London) - One of South London’s finest grassroots venues for up and coming talent from Folk/SingerSongwriter to Punk/Heavy Rock. We’ve been lucky to have a few gigs here and have interacted with the best audience we could ever offer asked for!

What's your favourite type of event?

Festivals! To play out in the open is an experience for any musician / band. It allows you to spread your talent / message across a wider space and not restricted to just 4 walls. As much as playing inside im one of the finest venues like Scala, Brixton Academy and that are a dream… outdoor festivals are the biggest of them all!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

As mentioned, the project started as a small remote producing thing between myself and co-producer (and best friend Louis). We had/have a whole folder of lyrics and weird ideas that we’d just shove in. “Give Me Your Remedy” is one of the first to ever be put out to the world. The project then in 2021 unexpectedly turned into a band when an old friend/ex drummer of the band’s mum signed us up to a festival in Colchester and so had to rush to create a band. It was never my intention at that time to start a band at all, but well it’s hear now and since (under a few line ups) we’ve experienced many a venue, sound engineer and promoter. We’ve managed to condense the contacts to quite a few gooden who will hopefully help us become who we truely need to be.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Bastille has always been a key influence to the band from production to topics covered lyrically. Specifically for me as the lead (Hosh) and Louis who are the original founders of this project. But you’ll also find theres trinkets of different influences from the varying styles in the songs. The guitarists Reuben and Jude are into Garage, Funk, Soul and R&B, same with our Drummer Wilfred (Freddie). Our bassist is pretty open to style, but I’d say his quite on the rocky style.
MJ actually influenced myself as a vocalist from the age of 9, so theres that too!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

As of current the most comfortable set is a 2x 45 minute set starting from 9pm. Set up and line check starting from 7:30pm (depending on the day everyone tends to finish around 7/7:30pm)
The current line up is also relatively new so rebuilding the catalog.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Of course! Within reason obviously depending on the weather.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

For gigs like festivals or pub/bar events, we have a set repertoire. We are an originals band up and foremost. However, for stuff like parties we are happy to take a request within advance and these can be worked into the set to the best of our abilities (please note we are an indie pop / rock band so no we won’t be doing death metal)

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous collaborations from promoters to pub/bar owners have described us as energetic and well engaged with the audience. We try our best to make the atmosphere as positive as possible!
