A guide to booking

Hire Wedding Bands in United Kingdom

Live wedding bands bring an energy to evening receptions that playlists cannot match. Professional groups near you are experienced at working with local venues, managing sound levels for different room sizes, and keeping guests of all ages dancing. Most acts perform two or three sets of around 45 minutes, with DJ music filling the breaks, and offer extras like acoustic ceremony performances or learning your first dance song.

What to Look for in a Local Wedding Band

Start by matching band size to your venue. Duos and trios suit smaller or more intimate spaces, while four to six-piece lineups fill larger reception rooms with a fuller sound. Check demo videos to make sure the band's energy and style match the atmosphere you want. It is also worth asking about the full package: most professional acts include PA equipment, lighting, and MC services as standard, but ceremony music, extended sets, and additional musicians may be priced separately. Bands based near your venue often offer more competitive rates due to lower travel costs.

Wedding Band Pricing in United Kingdom

For Wedding bands in United Kingdom, fees run from £170 to £2,150+, with an average cost of £700. Band size is the biggest factor in pricing, followed by performance duration and time of year. Peak season dates from late spring through early autumn tend to carry higher rates, while midweek or off-season bookings can stretch your budget further. Ask about package deals if you want ceremony music or a late-night DJ set alongside the main performance.

One word INCREDIBLE. Booking The Wild Sons was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the acoustic day performance until the very last song, the energy they brought was absolutely incredible. The dance floor was packed all night, and they created the kind of atmosphere we’d always dreamed of. They had everyone up dancing and singing along. We’ve lost count of how many people have told us they were the best wedding band they’ve ever seen. So many of our guests have asked for their name because they were so impressed! Not only are they phenomenally talented musicians, but they were also so friendly and professional throughout the whole process. Alun made everything feel effortless, allowing us to relax and enjoy every second of the day. If you’re looking for a band that will keep the dance floor full, bring incredible energy, and leave your guests talking about your wedding for ages to come, look no further. The Wild Sons were genuinely one of the highlights of our entire day, and we couldn’t have imagined celebrating without them. Thank you for giving us the most unforgettable entertainment - we will be talking about it for the rest of our lives! 🤘🏽🤍" Based in Cardiff, Wales 6th October 2026 Beverly Long - Wedding Photo of The Alternatives The Alternatives "Absolutely fantastic band singer brilliant would highly recommend" Based in Wales 5th October 2026 Deb Bowen Photo of Ukebox Ukebox "From start to finish they looked after everything and our guests were blown away - can't recommend highly enough thank you x" Based in Liverpool, England 29th September 2026 Andy & Leanne - Private Wedding Photo of The Kopy Katz (Rockabilly + Rock & Roll) The Kopy Katz (Rockabilly + Rock & Roll) "A brilliant night with The Kopy Katz, great music, great fun, and even better company and some new friends. 🎸🔥 At The Queen's Arms Pub" Based in Welwyn Garden City, England 28th September 2026 Gianfranco Baldari Photo of Iron Broo Ceilidh Band Iron Broo Ceilidh Band "A Perfect Wedding Band! When I proposed to my now wife back in 2017, I was adamant that we would have a great ceilidh band for the wedding, showing my new Hungarian family a true taste of Scottish culture whilst having a great time. When I saw the advert for Iron Broo and how they were ranked one of the top ceilidh bands in the area I was sceptical at first having never heard them play. Then I was invited to a wedding that they played 4 months prior to my own: after hearing their 3 piece I knew my wedding would be in safe hands! All through the buildup to the day Charlie was a great help, using his knowledge and experience to advise how to run the evening - he even transcribed a bagpipe tune for my great grandfather to play on the night! On the day, the band were outstanding! Despite a small wedding the band with their charm and wit managed to get people up to dance and put on a tremendous show! The personal touches were carefully noted as the Orcadian Strip the Willow’s music was even tailored to incorporate Hungarian folk music that put a big smile on the new in-laws faces! I could not recommend Iron Broo more to play at any function, they really are what they advertise and will now need to create an event just to have them back! Forever grateful. Mr and Mrs Borthwick." Based in Aberdeen, Scotland 26th September 2026 Fraser Borthwick - Wedding

Frequently asked questions

The average cost of hiring wedding bands is £700, with prices from £170 to £2,150+. The main pricing factor is the number of musicians in the band, as wedding bands range from compact three-piece acts to large ensembles with brass sections and backing vocalists. Performance duration, whether the band provides music for multiple parts of the day and any extras such as DJ sets or lighting also affect cost.

Most wedding bands are self-contained and provide their own PA system, microphones and any necessary amplification for standard event venues. For larger spaces or events with over 300 guests, additional sound reinforcement may be needed. It is a good idea to confirm equipment details with the band before booking, especially if the venue has specific noise restrictions or technical requirements.

Most wedding bands cover a wide range of genres, from pop and rock to soul, Motown, indie and current chart hits. Some also offer jazz, swing or acoustic sets for cocktail hours and dinner. Browsing band profiles on Gig Heaven is the best way to check repertoire, and many bands will tailor their setlist to suit the style of your event.

Most wedding bands perform for two to three hours of evening entertainment, usually split into sets with short breaks. The first set often begins after the meal and speeches, starting with the first dance. Longer or shorter performance times can usually be arranged, and many bands also offer background music or DJ services for earlier parts of the day.

Many wedding bands are happy to learn a specific song, such as a first dance or a song with personal significance. For the best experience, discuss this with the band as early as possible, as some songs may require additional rehearsal time. Most bands will learn at least one special request at no extra charge.

The wedding bands listed on Gig Heaven range from small three or four-piece groups to larger line-ups with brass sections, backing singers and additional musicians. Smaller bands suit intimate venues and lower budgets, while larger ensembles create a bigger sound for grand receptions. Many bands offer flexible line-up options to suit different event sizes and budgets.
